The vehicle in detail

We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our clients this outstanding 2004 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup Race car.

For many years, 2shores has been offering selected, finest grade examples of collectible automobiles. This very prominent Flying Lizard Cup car is one of those examples!

The Flying Lizard Motorsports group is a motorsport team from Sonoma, California, formed by Seth Neiman in early 2003. The team competed in the full American Le Mans Series season, as well as the 24 Hours of Daytona, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team went on to win six driver and team championships in the American Le Mans Series, becoming a Porsche factory team and Porsche Motorsport North America’s development partner from 2007 to 2012. The team helped develop the first- and second-generation 997 GT3 RSR as well as bring it to victory several times in its six-year run in the series. The team solely raced Porsche cars from 2004 to 2019, becoming a staple in the Porsche racing community.

Our car on offer is the first race car developed by Flying Lizard, a 2004 996 GT3 Cup car. This vehicle was developed and raced by Flying Lizard and took the pole position and finished 2nd place in the 2004 Daytona 24hrs with drivers Johannes van Overbeek, Lonnie Pechnik, Mike Rockenfeller, Peter Cunningham and Seth Neiman.

A very interesting and nicely researched article about this unique racer was published in Excellence Magazine in 2018: https://www.excellence-mag.com/issues/259/articles/a-wolf-in-sheep-s-clothing#.XKt1yiMrI-s

The current owner bought this car in 2014 and consequently restored the car to the highest degree imaginable. The attention to detail is showcased in every body gap, trim piece and paint line. Other than the addition of anti-lock brakes, the Porsche is as it ran at the 2004 Rolex 24 at Daytona with the same barking exhaust that makes onlookers stare in confusion.

A truly excellent example of a highly competitive and legendary race car for the most discerning enthusiast. The car currently runs a 4.0l engine and puts out close to 500hp. Ready to race! The vehicle comes with a lot of spare parts including a 3.6l World Challenge RS engine with only 20hrs.

Very unique opportunity!
