A model that even today feels surprisingly modern, delivering strong performance with great feedback and unexpectedly good ride comfort. That said, there are quite a few areas where the model can be made more “up to date” and more enjoyable to use. After 20 years, the shift linkage can feel loose and imprecise, the engine/gearbox often develop leaks, dampers and suspension arms are more or less worn out, and the stock output of 420 horsepower could arguably be well north of 500. We wouldn’t call this a restomod, but rather a 996 Turbo that has received a makeover or perhaps a recommissioning. A tricky project to undertake, as the 996 Turbo is one of the most beloved models of modern times. Great respect and deep knowledge are essential when making an already excellent car “better,” and the previous owner has certainly demonstrated an abundance of both. Built to be enjoyed on the road, yet it by no means embarrasses itself on the occasional track day.

• Finished in Wimbledon Green Metallic (Factory color for 2001) with Metropole Blue interior. Professional color change in spring 2025 from Arctic Silver.
