VEHICLE HISTORY
This 996 Turbo left the Porsche factory in standard production condition on March 7, 2001. It was subsequently modified by GEMBALLA to the GTR600 specification. The vehicle has been part of an extensive collection for many years and is now being offered on the open market for the first time in a long time.
MODEL HISTORY
The Porsche 996 Turbo in the Gemballa GTR600 configuration is one of the most exclusive and uncompromising interpretations of the 911 from the early 2000s. Based on the 996 Turbo, Gemballa developed a comprehensive performance and aerodynamics package that boosted the twin-turbo boxer engine to around 600 hp. Complemented by a specially tuned suspension, high-performance brakes, and striking lightweight and body components, the result is a vehicle that stands out clearly from the production model—both visually and in terms of driving dynamics.
The GTR600 gained particular notoriety for its impressive performance on the racetrack: In 2001, a Gemballa GTR600 achieved a lap time of around 7 minutes and 32 seconds on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This time was later beaten by the Porsche Carrera GT by less than a second—proof of the extraordinary level the GTR600 had already reached at that early stage. The lap time underscored not only the enormous performance of the conversion but also Gemballa’s consistent focus as a tuner on driver-oriented, motorsport-inspired concepts.
ABOUT GEMBALLA
Behind this vehicle stands the German tuning manufacturer Gemballa, founded in 1981 by Uwe Gemballa. The Leonberg-based company specialized early on in highly customized and high-performance Porsche conversions and was regarded for decades as one of the most renowned tuners worldwide. With innovative concepts in the areas of design, aerodynamics, and performance enhancement, Gemballa repeatedly set new standards and created vehicles that were not only faster but also significantly more exclusive than their production counterparts.
