Keeping the Porsche mantra of “Evolution, not revolution” alive, the 997 series kept a close visual link to its predecessors but moved the game forward a very long way. The 997 is the most commercially successful Porsche 911 of all time. The styling harked back to the revered Porsche 993 era and was widely acclaimed by seasoned Porsche enthusiasts. The much-loved oval-shaped headlights returned, and the interior was re-designed with new controls, more reminiscent of the original 911 interiors. The body shape remained low profile, with a drag coefficient of just 0.29 for the Carrera. The 4-wheel drive system enhances this all-round usability.
The Generation II models gained the new direct fuel injection engine (91DFI unit), which produces 345 HP at 6,500rpm, revised styling, new front driving lights, restyled LED rear lights and touch-screen navigation. The Carrera can travel from 0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 179mph.
Supplied new by Porsche Centre Reading in September 2011, this one owner car is accompanied by its driver’s book pack, and spare remote key. This car offers a clear opportunity to purchase one of the lowest-mileage, and best-equipped Porsche 997 Coupes available.
