Model history
Porsche's vision of a four-door sports car arose in the 1990s, when the market showed increasing demand for luxurious sedans with a sporty character. Porsche began extensive market analyses and customer surveys to understand the needs and wishes of potential buyers for a four-door sports car. On this basis, the company developed the Panamera concept, which was to combine the performance and driving dynamics of a sports car with the comfort and everyday usability of a saloon. The challenges during development were manifold, as Porsche had to use new technologies and manufacturing methods to meet the requirements of this type of vehicle. Numerous prototypes were built and intensively tested for performance, handling, reliability and comfort before the Porsche Panamera Turbo finally made its debut at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in 2009.
