Climbing the Grossglockner in a Porsche – Alpcars
Many Porsche enthusiasts are familiar with the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. After all, Ferdinand and later Ferry Porsche used the pass road for test drives. It is also a place of longing for Wolfgang Porsche. He takes a photo at the very same spot every time he drives there. What would it be like to drive the 47.8-kilometre Grossglockner High Alpine Road in a Porsche yourself? Alpcars offers this opportunity! The sports car rental company is located just 40 kilometres from the Porsche family’s favourite road. And the team led by Maria Lederer and Andreas Hafenscherer has just the right vehicles for the job.
Through the Alps in a Porsche – sports car enjoyment on specially tested routes
Not everyone wants to drive thousands of kilometres to the Alps and back in their own Porsche. So why not simply travel in comfort by plane and change into a sports car legend on the spot? That’s exactly what Maria and Andreas thought. Their sports car hire company Alpcars is located – as the name suggests – just a stone’s throw away from the most beautiful Alpine passes in Austria.
What makes it special: Alpcars is run by real sports car enthusiasts. Which in return means that renters have the best possible support on site. After all, Maria and Andreas are avowed Porsche fans. This is reflected not only in the selection of vehicles, but also in the support they provide. Because they know all the passes around Goldegg inside out.
We have had a great affinity with sports cars for years. We are now both very much in love with the Porsche brand and are proud to have our absolute dream car on offer in the GT4 RS.

The package therefore always includes specially designed route suggestions. From short taster trips to tours lasting several days throughout Austria and South Tyrol, everything is included. Naturally hand-picked and travelled by Maria & Andreas. No unpleasant surprises await you. All you have to do is take a seat, start the engine and enjoy your time!
Alpcars is the only sports car hire company in Austria to offer a Cayman GT4 RS for hire!
Alongside the Porsche 992 GT3 RS, it is probably the most extreme Porsche you can drive at the moment – the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS! And Alpcars is the only sports car hire company in Austria to offer this 500 hp mid-engined road-racer for extended pass tours. Driving up the Grossglockner in a 718 Cayman GT4 RS for nice piece of cake at Mankei? It doesn’t get much more befitting. And one thing is certain: every single kilometre in this car is pure adrenaline.
But fans of the 911 also get their money’s worth at Alpcars. In addition to the GT4, you can also hire a Porsche 992 Carrera 4 GTS for your Alpine tour. It impresses with incredible driving performance thanks to its 480 hp 3.0-litre boxer turbo engine, without neglecting comfort and everyday practicality. It is not without good reason that the GTS models are considered the best of Zuffenhausen!
If the Grossglockner is not enough, you can hire the Alpcar’s Porsches for up to a month!
No matter how far you want to travel, Alpcars has the right package for you. You can choose anything from short-term hire between one and four hours to a whole month’s hire. This gives you enough time to drive all the dream roads of the Salzburger Land or even the Dolomites! Incidentally, Alpcars also offers a delivery and collection service. After landing at an airport in the area, you can set off directly towards the Alps in your dream Porsche.
