If this was something you wished you too could experience firsthand, then Beyond Adventure “BOTSWANA Special” is just for you. We ensure there is support all the way, making it a manageable yet once-in-a-lifetime experience that defines Beyond Adventure.

Mind-blowing landscapes, vast open spaces and untouched nature… Explore Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana!
Jump onboard your specially prepared Porsche and get ready to experience a “one-of-one” event. Explore the welcoming and amazing countries of Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. See the true Africa—driving through mind-blowing landscapes, abundant wildlife, and unspoiled nature—and enjoy all the waves and cheers you’ll receive when you show up in a colorful Porsche.
Trust us when we say, “Everything is possible” when joining the BOTSWANA Special. Prepare for spectacular views, fantastic drives, and memorable moments as you push yourself and the car, revealing true limits. This ultimate driving experience offers Africa’s unique natural beauty combined with exceptional accommodations and a tremendous sense of achievement. You will be challenged to cross remote, often restricted areas in countries not visited by the average tourist.
As this is a Special, we will, at times, go beyond what is normally possible with such cars. Here, we need to “protect to survive,” so clear driving instructions will be given, as pulling a car free in between lions can be too much adventure —even for us. Rest assured, the entire support team will always be there, from start to finish. Southern Africa means amazing safari destinations, perfect for game drives, but it is also a blend of unique habitats, incredible cultures, and a natural spectacle that’s second to none. And all this is to be experienced through the windscreen of your Porsche—we dare to invite you to the “one-of-one” club.
See life differently
With this trip, we aim for you to reset yourself and see life differently ever after. We will adapt to “Africa time,” and some flexibility is needed as we, from time to time, will see how far we can push the boundaries. Getting stuck and having to find solutions are part of the plan. We may need to find alternative routes if the rivers are too deep or the sand too soft. It will, for a few days, result in long driving days, but at the end of each day, you can relax in the most amazing accommodations, look up to the clear sky, and realize it was all worth it.

Embark on a thrilling adventure through breathtaking landscapes, wildlife safaris, vast open spaces, and untouched nature with your specially prepared safari Porsche. Welcome to the heart of Africa. The Beyond Adventure Safari fleet can’t visit Africa without also going on a real safari, exploring the amazing wildlife. And yes, a close-by elephant does look even closer from a Porsche sports car.
The Journey
The Beyond Adventure BOTSWANA Special begins in Maun, where you are shuttled to the starting point in the Moremi Game Reserve. Here, the cars await you amidst the untamed beauty of a private game reserve. Simply adapt to Africa-Time and shake off the flight. Meet the waters of the Okavango Delta before heading north to the amazing Chobe National Park and conquer the challenges between big herds of elephants and other wildlife. Seek the northern exit of the park and embark on a small boat, leaving your now rather dirty Porsche behind. Take some time to relax on the banks of the river, sleeping right above grazing hippos!
Back in the cars for a relatively short drive, and after a few border crossings, find yourself at the biggest vertical carpet of water in the world—Victoria Falls. Why not sit on the edge in the Devil’s Pool? From there, get back into safari gear as you head to the natural spectacle known as the mysterious Makgadikgadi. Go island-hopping from one to another in your Porsche as you drive across the floor of a dried-out lake and marvel at the beauty of baobab silhouettes against the sunset.
Finally, head to Maun, or extend your journey with a few extra days inside the Okavango Delta on a fly-in visit—where cars are of no use.
Excellence paired with passion, adventure and precision
Beyond Adventure is all about exploring the world on passionate and unique driving adventures. Getting from A to B will become your experience not just transport. We offer you to explore “bucket-list” destinations, all behind the steering wheel of the most suitable vehicle for the challenges.
We dare to motivate you to go where no-one normally goes and we want to exceed your expectations with our one-of-its-kind concepts. With this experiences, we redefine automotive adventures and via distinctive customer teamwork you can extend your network and create friendships. When joining a Beyond Adventure you will become part of a passionate team and will immediately feel our uniqueness in how we do things.

Jan Kalmar Beyond Adventure was established by Jan Kalmar – an adventurer, petrol head and extreme driver who is constantly exploring the planet on four wheels. This life-long passion has led to an extensive network. Jan has bent the limits for automotive challenges for over 20 years and even set world records in the process.
Individual Approach
For us the experience must be distinctive – we supply the best service wherever we go but never lose the flexibility and individual approach. Therefore have we developed an unique classic rally-style driving concept for Beyond Adventure, not competing for the fastest time but instead for the most precise timing. This means you drive and navigate by yourself independently. Of course, the support team is always close by and for the most challenging stages, the entire group stays together.
Your Team
The passion for adventures is deep within our vastly experienced event team. We always aim for the best possible comfort and always ensure you are never alone. In case of an emergency, break down or a simple puncture, there is a solution assisted by the Beyond Adventure team. So, although you drive solo, you are never alone, even in the most remote areas. On special adventures a Beyond Adventure paramedic is present to ensure medical assistance in an unlikely emergency. The same goes for vehicle issues if needed a specially trained technician is on site.
For all Beyond Adventures the team always includes a local guide to explain about the area and inform about local habits and traditions, simply to widen your horizon – as Hans Christian Andersen said: “to travel is to live.” Behind the scenes, a team of travel experts is on alert from start to finish following your progress via GPS tracking for your safety and comfort – always ready to support.
The experience starts already when signing in, from that moment you can always rely on our support. Our adventure starts at the arrival airport. From here all is taken care of all the way to the departure airport. Get ready to explore the world you never knew existed…
The extraordinary world!
Let the adventure begin,
Jan Kalmar, founder
The Program
DAY 1
Ideally, you will arrive by midday at Maun International Airport. Here, you will be welcomed by our team and shuttled to a nearby lodge, where the fleet of Beyond Adventure Porsches is waiting for you. Take this opportunity to unwind and acclimate to the rhythm of Africa. Settle into the lodge before we gather for a briefing. This session will introduce you to the support team, provide detailed insights into the route, and, of course, present you with your Porsche for this adventure. In addition, we’ll share some handy but easy ‘self-help’ solutions to keep things smooth along the way.

As the sun sets, immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of your first African sunset before indulging in a well-deserved evening.
DAY 2
An early start to the day will quickly become a natural part of being in Africa, so get used to it… As morning dawns, you can either spend some time resting or join a short game drive before breakfast. Then, we head out for a drive along the Chobe River, where you’ll need to keep your eyes wide open—there’s plenty of wildlife just beyond your windscreen.
As the afternoon unfolds, we venture further into the National Park, where you’ll catch even more captivating glimpses of wildlife in their natural habitat. Behind the wheel of your Porsche, tackle some short yet thrilling sandy tracks. At the end of the day’s journey, a lodge awaits—perfectly positioned as a restful spot after a long and rewarding day.

Savor a special sundowner amidst the nature reserve, followed by a sumptuous local braai (barbecue) dinner, setting the stage for another day of driving adventures tomorrow.
SABLE ALLEY, 250 km
DAY 3
Today, you can enjoy a slower start to the day before heading further north. Perhaps a soothing massage, lounging by the pool, or relaxing on your private veranda to shake off any lingering jetlag and savor the sunrise before the next driving adventure begins.

Once settled into your Porsche, we’ll navigate through the vast remoteness of Chobe National Park, tackling a mix of sandy and gravel roads along the way. Our destination is a small boat pier, where we’ll leave the cars for a thorough check-up by the mechanics. From there, we’ll conclude the day’s journey with a scenic boat ride, drifting past vast herds of elephants and hippos, and finishing at a small order crossing.
As the day winds down, we’ll savor a sundowner dinner and enjoy captivating tales shared by the locals—an unforgettable end to a remarkable day.
CHOBE WATER VILLAS, 300 km
DAY 4
Keep those curtains open because this morning delivers an incredible sunrise right outside your villa. Now, brace yourself for a tough decision… Will you return to the mainland and embark on a thrilling adventure in your Porsche through Chobe and Linyanti National Parks? Here, vast herds of elephants, giraffes, and hippos reign supreme, but be prepared to tackle rugged terrain that will test even our specially prepared cars.

Or will you choose a well-deserved break day—lounging on the deck of your villa, witnessing the wonders of the animal kingdom unfold before your eyes, and feeling your heart soar with every breath?
CHOBE WATER VILLAS, 0-100 km
DAY 5
Let’s fire up our engines and head deeper into real Africa in spectacular style! Today, we’re aiming for Victoria Falls, crossing into Zimbabwe with our Porsches—naturally embracing a bit of “Africa time” at the border.
With so much to see in this iconic area, we’ll spend the morning exploring the town of Victoria Falls before enjoying a delicious lunch at the renowned Victoria Falls Hotel. After lunch, there’s time for a bit of African shopping before we bid farewell to Victoria Falls on foot, crossing the mighty bridge into Livingstone, Zambia. Don’t worry—both you and your luggage will be shuttled across!

Meanwhile, our cars will stay behind with the mechanics for a thorough check-up and maintenance, sparing us three hours of waiting at Zambian customs for what’s just a five-kilometer drive.
ROYAL LIVINGSTONE, 86 km
DAY 6
Wake up to zebras grazing around the hotel grounds and the distant roar of Victoria Falls—the perfect soundtrack to start your day. Today, we leave the cars behind in Zimbabwe and explore on foot, microlight, or helicopter! Victoria Falls, the world’s largest curtain of falling water, is twice the size of Niagara Falls. We’ll enjoy a unique lunch on a tiny island perched in the middle of the falls. If you dare, take the plunge into Devil’s Pool, where you can swim right to the very edge—an experience you’ll never forget.

In the afternoon, follow in the footsteps of David Livingstone as you explore the falls and the surrounding area. Its breathtaking views are almost too majestic to put into words—just don’t forget your rain jacket! For those seeking even more excitement, take to the skies with the Flight of Angels helicopter ride or a microlight flight, offering an unparalleled perspective of this natural wonder. Feeling daring? There’s bungee jumping off the bridge or the chance to conquer the mighty Zambezi with some whitewater rafting.
ROYAL LIVINGSTONE, 0 km
DAY 7
We kick off today by returning to Zimbabwe, where our meticulously checked and prepared Porsches await. Our journey leads us to our final border crossing as we re-enter Botswana, where a stretch of wide-open, straight tarmac road alongside Chobe National Park beckons. Please be prepared to slow down for elephants crossing the road!

Our destination: Makgadikgadi Pans. Once Africa’s largest inland lake, it now has one of the world’s largest salt flats. Driving there feels akin to navigating an ocean on wheels, hopping between the iconic baobab islands in our hard-working Porsches. We then head towards a spectacular camp lodge at an unforgettable spot that promises an unmissable sundowner.
Surrounded by fires and with animals calling during the night, this will be a moment sure to be etched into your memory. And don’t forget to look up! With no light pollution, you’ll witness the true majesty of the African night sky.
SAN CAMP, 490 km
DAY 8
Today, hop aboard your Porsche as we embark on a loop around the pans. We’ll pass by the meerkat families made famous by Sir David Attenborough, but keep your eyes peeled for other wildlife such as elephants, hyenas, and lions!
The location for lunch is so extraordinary and secretive that we can’t even share its coordinates. However, your Beyond Adventure team has made it possible. Back out on the pans, the sense of remoteness is palpable, and you can even witness the curvature of our planet Earth.
Returning towards the edge of the pans for some downtime, we’ll take time to reflect on the past weeks of immense adventure and awe-inspiring nature, overlooking the expansive landscape. This serves as a necessary pause before our grand final dinner. Large fires will be ablaze, celebrating yet another amazing experience with your fellow adventurous souls. And as we bid farewell, we’ll no doubt say, “See you next time!”
SAN CAMP, 110 km
DAY 9
Now, once again, you face another challenging decision. Will you bid farewell to your beloved, albeit weary Porsche and indulge in a few extra days exploring the Okavango Delta? Or is it time to return to Maun and begin the journey home?
Should you choose the extension and desire more safari adventures and relaxation, a private scenic flight will whisk you directly from San Camp into the heart of the Okavango Delta to one of the recommended lodges. Stay there for as long as you please. Our trusted local partners will take care of all arrangements.

Alternatively, you drive back to Maun together with the team, marking the start of your journey homeward. Either way, your internal memory card is surely brimming with unforgettable moments.

The cars – Choose your own adventure
It’s your choice! So, what are you most comfortable with? Choose from our proven Beyond Adventure fleet of safari rally inspired Porsches that will suit you best. Let us know which you prefer, or partner with another team and swap cars when you like.

Sports cars
The sports cars (911 and Cayman) have a rear roll-cage, sports seats, raised suspension with rally-specification shock absorbers, tall gravel tires and full under-body protection. There’s a special spare tyre holder and of course, the cooling box behind the seats (not the Cayman).
Porsche 911 (964/993) KALMAR RS Manual
A light, tough hardcore gravel car that’s at home in the harshest conditions – just remember it’s not the most comfortable car. It’s a true work horse. Air-conditioning is working when we set off. Five or six speed manual transmission. Just 1300kg and 260-290bhp, it’s something else!
Porsche 911 (996) KALMAR RS-6 Manual
A more comfortable version of the KALMAR RS and with a water-cooled engine. Good on the long straight roads for sure. Significantly more complex than the RS but has more to offer when treated gently. Six-speed manual transmission, 1425kg ready to go and 300bhp.

Porsche Cayman R KALMAR RS-C PDK
The new kid on the block – Two luggage compartments but no fridge! It’s the most comfortable and most modern sportscar in the fleet with the PDK gearbox. Fast and agile but worth noting it’s not as tough as some of the others. 1400kg and 326bhp.
Cayennes
The Cayennes with raised suspension and larger, more suitable off-road tires. They also have full under-body protection, roof rack, fridge, and recovery gear to make even the most difficult stages possible. We will use modern tablet navigation so you will never be lost, and we have our satellite-based safety system with all the necessary functions you’ll need.
Porsche Cayenne KALMAR CS
The most comfortable car from the range. You might turn less heads but it feels like a magic carpet ride. Don’t forget these have working air-conditioning all the time.

Porsche Cayenne KALMAR CS-R
The most off-road capable car from the fleet, huge weight reduction from fitting sport seats and the removal of most comfort gear means this car is not the ordinary SUV. Low range and differential locks mean you can go almost anywhere with this car.
Can’t decide? We can help pick the right car that will suit you best.
Bring Your own Safari Porsche
As the off-road Porsche sportscar scene has increased significantly especially with the arrival of almost 2500 units of the Porsche 911 Dakar. Additionally, there’s a lots of small series producers offering off-road-prepared Porsches of all kind. Maybe you already have your own specially prepared off-road Porsche sportscar.
Just like the huge interest in upgrading the great Porsche Cayenne means there are plenty of equal-minded enthusiasts out there and all are more than welcome! We simply hope to gather a bigger group of Porsches going on this adventure. We will need to get a detailed description of the car and will most likely inspect the car personally. Because we know what is needed from a Porsche to make it to the finish line.
We will service and maintain it like it was “our own” but there will be some spare challenges possibly. If you want us to build a car for you, then this is also no problem, just let us know. The cost of running our fleet cars will be deducted from your entry fee, but the cost for the service team and fuel will still be carried by you. All spares needed on the trip will be invoiced separately at the cost price. Please contact us for more detailed information! We have been doing these trips for 15 years now and are happy to see more and more using these cars away from the boring tarmac roads.
