Morocco offers a rugged and untamed environment along challenging mountain roads in the majestic High Atlas Mountains—home to numerous Berbers.

Over a distance of about 1,750 kilometers, we first pass through lush, well-watered valleys and palm-lined, sand-colored kasbahs before reaching the majestic Sahara with its epic dunes—a perfect combination of excitement and adventure. Jan Kalmar Beyond Adventure was founded by Jan Kalmar—an adventurer, car enthusiast, and extreme driver who is constantly exploring the planet on four wheels. This lifelong passion has led to an extensive network. For more than 20 years, Jan Kalmar has been pushing the boundaries of automotive challenges, even setting world records in the process.

The team

Our experienced event team is passionate about adventure. We always strive to provide the best possible comfort and make sure you’re never on your own. Whether it’s an emergency, a mechanical failure, or a simple flat tire, there’s always a solution. Our Beyond Adventure Team is always there to offer advice and assistance.

Even though you’re driving alone, you’re never alone on your journey—not even in the most remote areas. On select adventures, a Beyond Adventure medic is on hand to provide medical assistance in the unlikely event of an emergency. The same applies to vehicle problems—a specially trained technician is on site.

All Beyond Adventures include a local tour guide. He’ll explain the area, local customs, and traditions—all to broaden your horizons. As Hans Christian Andersen used to say, “To travel is to live.” Behind the scenes, a team of travel experts is on the lookout from start to finish, tracking your route via GPS—always ready to assist you. This ensures not only your safety but also your comfort at all times.

The Program

DAY 1 – Arrival, Wednesday, March 10, 2027

Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will be met by the Beyond Adventure team at the airport and taken to a nearby hotel, which is set in private gardens with large open spaces.

If you’d like more time to recover from your trip and get used to the Moroccan way of life and its unique traditions, we recommend arriving a day early and booking an extra night—it’s well worth it.

Before we set off for the land of 1,001 landscapes, we’ll have a team introduction and a vehicle briefing. Morocco is full of adventure, and without mastering our Beyond Adventure navigation system, no one would be able to find the selected routes, so we’ll explain everything in detail.

After the briefing, we’ll enjoy a welcome dinner in true Moroccan style—and get mentally prepared for the adventures ahead.

AGAFAY LUXURY CAMP, 0 km

DAY 2 – Thursday, March 11, 2027

Today marks the start of the driving portion of the Beyond Adventure Extreme Morocco Rally. We’ll get acquainted with the car and begin with an easy drive on paved roads heading south toward one of the world’s most dramatic mountain ranges: the Atlas Mountains, which we’ll cross at an elevation of 2,200 meters. Here, the paved road gives way sporadically to gravel, which sets the tone for the coming days. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountain peaks, because soon the desert heat will take over.

A visit to Ait Ben Haddou brings to mind some of the great films mentioned earlier, and we see how this ancient society still thrives today. On the way down, lush valleys and bare rock faces await us, and although the area is wild and rugged, it has long been inhabited by Berbers, whose flat-roofed mud-brick villages jut out from the mountain slopes alongside terraced gardens and orchards full of walnut and fruit trees.

From snow-capped peaks to green valleys, it has it all

As the day progresses, the colors of nature shift between the snow-capped peaks and green valleys of the Atlas Mountains. The route continues south along a fast-paced paved road through the arid, pink, and ochre-colored Anti-Atlas mountain range, all the way to the gates of the golden dunes of the Sahara Desert.

Our destination for today is a small lodge in the heart of Zagora’s palm grove—one of the largest of its kind—a world of dates and mint tea. Perhaps you’ll take a dip in the pool before we enjoy a well-deserved dinner on the rooftop terrace. Tomorrow we’ll see and drive through our first dunes; a special briefing is on the agenda today to ensure we tackle them with flying colors.

AZALAI DESERT LODGE, 365 km

DAY 3 – Friday, March 12, 2027

After yesterday’s long drive, today is a completely different experience. As soon as we leave the Zagora palm grove behind us, we continue off-road along the Jbel Tadrart mountain range. The first glimpses of the desert fringe offer a foretaste of this breathtaking natural wonder.

Let the Sahara adventure begin! We’re heading into the impressive Erg Chegaga National Park, famous for Morocco’s largest dunes—a phenomenal, endless sea of sand with dunes reaching heights of up to 300 m. Vehicles and drivers are put to the test, and the team works together to reach their planned destination.

Our average speed is significantly lower because we’re battling countless dunes. This leg pushes us to our limits, so we’re driving in a convoy to make sure no one gets left behind. We reach the camp in the early afternoon, and anyone who’s up for more can optionally take another lap through the dunes. Alternatively, you can play a round of golf—but watch out for the giant sand bunker.

As the sun sets over the sand stretching out to infinity, the day comes to a close at the magical desert camp. A traditional Moroccan dinner and a night under the Sahara’s mesmerizing starry sky await you.

BEYOND ADVENTURE CAMP, 170 km + OPTIONAL DUNE TOUR

DAY 4 – Saturday, March 13, 2027

Every Beyond Adventure includes a marathon stage, and the Beyond Adventure Extreme Morocco is no exception. Today’s itinerary features a long, exciting drive on sandy and flat gravel roads that will put your driving skills to the test. A day full of unforgettable sights and an exhilarating sense of freedom awaits as we delve deep into the heart and seclusion of the sun-drenched Sahara, punctuated by occasional oases and villages.

We’ll be setting out early to catch the sunrise before we tackle the dunes once again and later enjoy an amazing “Grand Canyon” experience on pleasantly smooth asphalt roads. But don’t get too comfortable, because as soon as we leave the road, we’ll have a 180-kilometer gravel section ahead of us—spectacular views are guaranteed.

The final 40 kilometers of the day let our adrenaline levels drop again, until the majestic dunes of Merzouga come into view. A small riad gives us a warm welcome, and it’s time to wash off the dust after this incredible, authentic Sahara experience.

HOTEL RIAD XALUCA, 423 km

DAY 5 – Sunday, March 14, 2027

If you enjoyed the last few days of driving, we wonder how you’ll rate this day! We’ll set off from the hotel and head north toward the impressive Chebbi Dune for a short “wake-up” drive before we really dive into the dunes.

Today, we’re going beyond the boundaries of drivers and vehicles, and there’s a “stuck-and-you-stay-stuck” guarantee. The only question is how deeply you’ll get stuck—and how often you’ll help not only yourself but others as well.

There’s plenty of sand on the agenda. We’ve picked out a few playgrounds to challenge the drivers… may the best team win! Lunch will be served in a relaxed setting by the riverbed, and anyone who wants to can take an optional buggy ride to the tops of the dunes.

A breathtaking camp on the edge of the vast sea of sand will be our home for the night. Anyone who wants to can ride a traditional four-legged animal to the best vantage point for watching the sunset.

MERZOUGA LUXURY DESERT CAMP, 135 km

DAY 6 – Monday, March 15, 2027

This day starts early, as we need to reach our destination before sunset to enjoy the magnificent view. At first, we ride on smooth, fast gravel roads. The few rocky sections aren’t a problem, since by now everyone knows how to handle these little challenges.

A day full of impressions from the Hollywood film industry, but it’s still the tour that makes the biggest impression.

Once we’re back on asphalt, it means saying goodbye to the fantastic off-road stretches. But our excitement doesn’t wane, because one of Africa’s most famous roads awaits us. It takes us up to the pass in the Dades Gorges. Once we reach the top, an impressive hotel awaits us.

EDEN BOUTIQUE HOTEL, 340 km

DAY 7 – Tuesday, March 16, 2027

We have one more mountain range to climb: this time, the Central Atlas Mountains. Starting out on easy, open roads gives us time to enjoy the last of the impressive views before we tackle a spectacular mountain pass. Traffic is picking up, but the driving experience more than makes up for it.

Tired but invigorated by this Moroccan adventure, we return to the bustling city of Marrakesh. Before sunset, we return to the hotel, where the awards ceremony and farewell dinner will take place. It’s time to say “until next time” to the like-minded adventurers with whom you’ve shared this unique experience.

The transfer to the airport is scheduled for tomorrow—unless you decide to take a few more days to continue exploring this wonderful corner of the world called Morocco or to relax.

THE CARS – YOUR CHOICE

What suits you best, and what makes you feel most comfortable? Choose the one that best suits you from our tried-and-true Beyond Adventure fleet of safari-rally-inspired Porsches. You can choose from the Beyond Adventure Safari Range RS-7 based on the Porsche 911 (997), the Beyond Adventure Safari Range RS based on the Porsche 911 (993), and the Cayenne models CS and CS-R.

The 911s feature a rear roll cage, sports seats, a raised suspension with rally shock absorbers, large gravel tires, and full underbody protection. They also come with a spare tire mount, LED lights, and a cooler behind the seats.

The Cayennes feature a raised suspension and larger, off-road-capable tires. Full underbody protection, a roof rack, a cooler, and recovery equipment make even the most challenging stages possible. We use modern tablet navigation so you’ll never get lost. Our satellite-based safety system also provides you with all the necessary features.

Beyond Adventure Safari Range RS-7

The RS-7 is based on the 997-generation Porsche 911 and is equipped with a manual transmission. It combines a modern 911 platform with the safari-ready features typical of Beyond Adventure.

Beyond Adventure Safari Range RS

The RS is based on the 993-generation Porsche 911 and is also equipped with a manual transmission. It is the classic 911 option in the fleet and is prepared for challenging gravel and desert stages.

Beyond Adventure Safari Range CS

The CS is based on the Porsche Cayenne and comes with an automatic transmission. It offers plenty of comfort, excellent practicality for everyday use, and the right setup for long drives on asphalt, gravel, and sand.

Beyond Adventure Safari Range CS-R

The CS-R is also based on the Porsche Cayenne with an automatic transmission. It is the most rugged Cayenne model in the fleet and is specifically designed for challenging off-road terrain.

Alternatively, you can participate in your own Porsche Safari. You also have the option to switch vehicles if a suitable rotation arises.
