Beyond Adventure – Bhutan

Look forward to an extraordinary driving experience in a country that remains virtually unknown to many travelers. Bhutan combines ancient Buddhist culture with the breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayas and a travel experience that is virtually one-of-a-kind: behind the wheel of a specially prepared Porsche.
Due to its geographic location, Bhutan remains a very special travel destination to this day. Until 1974, the kingdom was partially closed to tourists. Even today, the number of visitors is strictly limited. Visitors to Bhutan experience a world of monasteries, mountain passes, remote valleys, lush nature, and a culture that has preserved its own unique rhythm.
There are two dates for Beyond Adventure Bhutan 2027. The first trip takes place from September 13 to 22, 2027, and the second from September 27 to October 6, 2027.

Bhutan: Buddhist culture, Himalayan passes, and a Porsche safari
Beyond Adventure has secured the necessary permits to give participants special access to this unique country. Instead of touring Bhutan by minibus, as many visitors do, the focus here is on self-driving. Each participant experiences the route in their own Beyond Adventure Porsche, discovering not only Bhutan but also the border regions near India.

The route takes you along back roads, through unspoiled villages, and to elevations of up to nearly 4,000 meters. Along the way, you’ll experience the most breathtaking landscapes and sounds of the Himalayan region. The group spends the nights at carefully selected resorts and hotels, including multi-award-winning properties such as Six Senses Thimphu, Pemako Punakha, Gangtey Lodge, Six Senses Bumthang, and Six Senses Paro.
The trip begins with a flight to Paro, Bhutan’s only international airport. Even the approach to the airport is considered extraordinary. After that, the Beyond Adventure team and local guides take over the logistics, while participants gradually acclimate to the altitude, pace, and culture of the country.
Excellence combined with passion, adventure, and precision
Beyond Adventure is all about exploring the world through exciting and unique driving adventures. The journey from A to B becomes an experience in itself, rather than just a route. We offer you the opportunity to explore destinations on your “bucket list,” all from behind the wheel of the vehicle best suited for the challenges ahead.

We want to inspire you to go where no one usually goes, and we want to exceed your expectations with our unique concepts. Beyond Adventure is redefining automotive adventure. Through close collaboration with our customers, you can expand your network and make new friends. When you join a Beyond Adventure trip, you become part of a passionate team and immediately experience the special way these trips are organized.
The concept focuses not on speed, but on precision, orientation, and shared experiences. You ride and navigate on your own. On particularly challenging sections, the group stays together to ensure support and safety at all times.
Individual approach
For Beyond Adventure, the experience must be one-of-a-kind. Personalized service, flexibility, and a tailored approach are at the heart of what we do. Behind the scenes, the team tracks the journey using Dakar Rally GPS systems to ensure safety and support throughout the entire tour.
Your Team
Beyond Adventure’s experienced event team ensures that you’re never alone, even in remote regions. For Bhutan, the team consists of an expedition leader, a local guide, a mechanic, a paramedic, and a member of the support staff.
Local guides provide insights into the country’s culture, daily life, and specific customs. A specially trained technical team assists with vehicle-related issues, while a paramedic is on hand to provide medical support. This ensures a balance between comfort, safety, and the travel experience.

The experience begins the moment you sign up. From then on, you can always count on our team. Our adventure begins at your arrival airport. From there, we’ll take care of everything all the way to your departure airport. Get ready to discover a world you never knew existed… an extraordinary world!
Let the adventure begin!

The Program
DAY 1
The trip begins in Paro, Bhutan’s only international airport. There, you will be greeted by the team, who will take care of your luggage, the necessary formalities, and everything else required for entry into the Kingdom.
Next, we’ll head to our accommodations for the first night. Your Porsche will already be waiting there for the next adventure. Take some time to acclimate to Bhutan’s altitude and pace. During the welcome briefing, the local guide will introduce you to the Buddhist way of life and explain the vehicles and route. Afterward, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring Bhutanese cuisine.
SIX SENSES THIMPHU, 0 km, 2,250 m / 7,382 ft.
DAY 2
Today marks the start of the real driving experience in Bhutan. After a short drive to the small capital city of Thimphu, you’ll have the opportunity to design your own stamps. Afterward, you’ll drive your Porsche uphill to the world’s largest seated Buddha.

The bronze statue is 51.5 meters tall and overlooks the southern entrance to the Thimphu Valley. In this special setting, we’ll enjoy lunch with a view of the Buddha. Afterward, the driving portion of the day begins. The distance seems manageable, but the narrow, winding roads toward Punakha take time and, in good weather, offer impressive views of the Himalayas.
Along the way, you’ll pass the 108 stupas at a mountain pass, surrounded by countless prayer flags. In the evening, a resort with luxury tented pool villas awaits, where you’ll spend two nights.
PEMAKO PUNAKHA, 79 km, 1,200 m / 3,936 ft.
DAY 3
The third day can be spent either being active or relaxing. Either way, you’ll enjoy the spectacular views from your retreat in the Punakha Valley. The day offers the opportunity to visit one of Bhutan’s most impressive dzongs.
There are also optional activities to choose from, such as river rafting or mountain biking. Those who prefer to take it easy can relax by the private heated pool or try a Bhutanese hot-stone bath before enjoying a special evening program.
PEMAKO PUNAKHA, 0 km, 1,200 m / 3,936 ft.

DAY 4
Today we’re saying goodbye to Punakha, but not without a quick visit to the Temple of Fertility. Before heading off the beaten path, the group helps local farmers with the rice harvest.
From there, the route takes us into Bhutan’s more remote valleys. We leave the main road and drive along winding roads toward the Khotokha Valley. It’s not just the route that makes this section special—the region itself is also largely untouched by tourism. In the middle of the valley, a picnic lunch awaits, surrounded by mountains, forests, and true seclusion. After lunch, the off-road drive continues through dense forest before we reach the Gangtey Valley in the late afternoon.
GANGTEY LODGE, 60 km, 2,900 m / 9,512 ft.
DAY 5
The Gangtey Valley offers a spectacular day. The morning begins with a special breakfast shared with young monks. Today’s destination is Bumthang, located beyond three impressive mountain passes, one of which is over 3,400 meters high.

The route takes you deeper and deeper into the sacred and intimate heart of Bhutan. For many, arriving in Bumthang marks the “end of the road.” With Beyond Adventure, of course, this isn’t the end—it’s just another highlight. After arriving at the hotel, there’s time to relax before a special Bhutanese dinner begins.
SIX SENSES BUMTHANG, 188 km, 3,425 m / 11,236 ft.
DAY 6
In the morning, the itinerary includes a visit to a local Swiss cheese farm. This will be followed by the Beyond Adventure competition in archery and darts. Lunch will be served at the hotel whenever you’d like. In the afternoon, you can optionally join a hike deeper into the valley or simply enjoy the view and relax with special spa treatments. Dinner that evening will be an extraordinary experience that you’ll remember for a long time to come.
SIX SENSES BUMTHANG, 0–70 km, 2,600 m / 8,530 ft.
DAY 7
The relaxing time in the Bumthang Valley was important, because today Bhutan reveals the full diversity of its landscapes. The route leads from cool high valleys through wild, jungle-covered hills down into subtropical plains. This makes today one of the most adventurous and scenically impressive days of the entire trip.

The destination is the remote region of Zhemgang, home to rare wildlife, including tigers. Sightings are rare and require a bit of luck, but the diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes make the journey special in its own right. Also, keep an eye out for golden langurs and hornbills. Finally, we’ll arrive in Gelephu, right on the border with India.
HOTEL YANGTSHOLING TARAA, 270 km, 300 m / 984 ft.
DAY 8
Today, a long drive awaits, filled with scenic views, diverse flora and fauna, and cultural and natural sights. The route winds through Bhutan’s mountainous landscape and small villages.
The roads are well-maintained but winding, with steep ascents and descents. The route includes several high mountain passes, including the Dochula Pass at 3,100 meters, which offers magnificent views of the Himalayas on a clear day. Every turn brings new sights. Plan on an eight- to nine-hour drive.
SIX SENSES PARO, 250 km, 2,250 m / 7,380 ft.

DAY 9
Are you ready for a challenge? Then today’s famous hike to Tiger’s Nest awaits you. It takes about three to four hours and can be quite challenging. The destination is one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the world.
Alternatively, you can spend the day at the lodge, relax at the spa, or visit Paro to buy souvenirs. A farewell dinner awaits you in the evening. Enjoy the last moments of Bhutan’s special atmosphere before you begin your journey home the next day.
SIX SENSES PARO, 0 km, 2,250 m / 7,380 ft.
DAY 10
It’s time to leave the Kingdom of Bhutan. But a part of this journey will stay with you. The friendliness of the people, the landscapes, and the special memories will stay with you even after you return home.
This adventure doesn’t end with a goodbye, but with a “See you soon” at the next Beyond Adventure. Depending on the flight schedule, the team will take you to the airport.

Bring your own Porsche Safari!
The Porsche off-road scene has grown significantly in recent years. Perhaps you already have your own specially modified off-road or safari Porsche. Similarly, the enthusiasm for modified Porsche Cayennes has given rise to a community of like-minded adventurers. Everyone is welcome.
However, we’ll need a detailed description of the vehicle in advance, and we may need to inspect the car in person. After all, Beyond Adventure knows what a Porsche needs to make it to the finish line.
The team will take care of your car as if it were “our own” and will handle service and maintenance with great care. However, there may be additional requirements regarding replacement parts, which will be discussed transparently. If you’d like Beyond Adventure to build a car for you, that’s also possible. The standard costs for using a fleet vehicle will be deducted from your participation fee. However, any service and repair costs after the event that pertain to your own car remain your responsibility. Replacement parts needed during the trip will be billed separately at cost.
