Luftgekühlt Copenhagen
Patrick Long is a two-time winner of the GT3 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and a real petrolhead. But he couldn’t find a car meeting in southern California that met his expectations. Without further ado, he teamed up with Creative Director Howie Idelson to organize a Porsche event himself. The result was the now legendary Luftgekühlt event in 2014. After editions in Hollywood, Indiana, Los Angeles and Munich, among others, another Luftgekühlt event is now on the program in Europe. Luftgekühlt Copenhagen awaits you at the Vilhelm Lauritzen Terminal at Copenhagen Airport Kastrup!
Luftgekühlt Copenhagen focuses on the shared experience of Porsche’s rich brand history
As the name suggests, Luftgekühlt is about the air-cooled era of the Porsche brand. In other words, the focus is on their rich history from 1948 to 1998. But more than just a meeting, Luftgekühlt is a curated exhibition. Anyone wishing to exhibit their car at an Luftgekühlt event must first apply and is hand-picked. The vehicles – from concours-worthy quasi-new cars to those hard-worn from racing – are all on display.
Air-cooled Porsche history is our palette, unique venues are our canvas, and you the people create the masterpieces: it’s a happening.
The Luft team on its own aspirations
Instead of a classic concours, as is often held on golf courses, Luftgekühlt wants to stand for a car party that everyone can enjoy. That’s why Luftgekühlt Copenhagen will not just be about cars. After all, the people responsible for the sometimes unbelievable stories will also have their say – racing drivers, engineers, mechanics and creative minds who have discovered and broken new ground. Luftgekühlt Copenhagen stands for: Discover. Educate. Connect.
Kastrup Airport provides an impressive venue for Luftgekühlt Copenhagen
After a series of legendary shows in California, the organizers of Luftgekühlt are taking a closer look at Porsche’s heritage in Europe. They are opening the doors for the second event in Europe in 2024, with the first edition of Luftgekühlt Copenhagen taking place at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport in Denmark on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
The Vilhelm Lauritzen Terminal and Hangar 145 are located right next to the runways of Copenhagen’s Kastrup Airport. The backdrop of the listed terminal building is unique. VIPs and heads of state are normally received in this masterpiece of Danish modernist architecture.
In and around this building, air-cooled Porsches of all kinds are exhibited, creating a unique picture. Racing cars, collector’s cars, classics, outlaws or concours – at Luftgekühlt Copenhagen, every visitor will get their money’s worth. The organizers promise a great mix of selected rarities. And in keeping with the venue, a Porsche airplane will even be making the trip to Copenhagen!
Luftgekühlt Copenhagen’s program also features celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 Turbo!
As always, an absolutely legendary gathering of enthusiasts is the backbone of the event. But this time, a healthy dose of Scandinavian coolness will be thrown into the mix. In addition, a special birthday celebration will be part of Luftgekühlt Copenhagen. The 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 Turbo will be celebrated here.
California meets Copenhagen. See you there!
