Ex-Max Verstappen Porsche 991 GT2 RS Clubsport to be auctioned!
The abbreviation GT2 RS is already legendary in Porsche circles. At least for the 911, it doesn’t get much better than this. But in 2018, the Zuffenhausen-based company went one better with the Porsche 991 GT2 RS Clubsport. This model, limited to only 200 units, was the ultimate 991 for racetrack drivers. One of these Clurbsports will soon be up for sale at RM Sotheby’s – from a very prominent previous owner. It is the former Porsche 991 GT2 RS Clubsport of none other than four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen!
Peak 991: What makes the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport so special
The Porsche 991 GT2 RS Clubsport saw the light of day in Los Angeles in 2018. Like the regular 911 GT2 RS of its time, the Clubsport also has a 3.8-liter biturbo six-cylinder boxer engine with 700 hp. Unlike its technical predecessor, however, the Clubsport is not road-legal, but is designed exclusively for use in club sport events and selected motorsport events.

Compared to the GT2 RS road car, the Clubsport shed another 155 kilograms, weighing in at 1,390 kilograms. This figure is all the more impressive when you consider that the GT2 RS already features carbon fiber body panels and a magnesium roof. In addition, the 991 GT2 RS Clubsport also features a welded roll cage and an integrated air lift system, effectively a pneumatic jack in the vehicle.
Porsche produced a total of only 200 991 GT2 RS Clubsport models. All of them feature a numbered badge, a fixed 7-speed PDK transmission, and numerous other racing modifications. These included a 115-liter FT3 safety fuel tank, an FIA-certified bucket seat, a fire extinguishing system, a Cosworth dashboard with data logger, and much more. In short, the GT2 RS Clubsport is a 991 that has finally switched sides – from the road to the track.
In 2019 Porsche launched the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport – the most hardcore 991 of them all, limited to 200 examples.
Max Verstappen bought the Porsche 991 GT2 RS Clubsport #25 new in 2019.
The model discussed here was delivered new in August 2019 to Max Verstappen, now a four-time Formula 1 world champion. Supported by the Dutch team GP Elite, he used the car for track days. In January 2020, both Max and his father Jos drove it during a test day at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The footage is part of the 2020 miniseries “Max Verstappen: Whatever It Takes” (episode 1).

Even back then, the Red Bull driver was an avid Porsche fan, driving a 991 GT3 RS to the track where he switched to the 991 GT2 RS Clubsport. This passion probably led to Max and his father Jos Verstappen driving just over 1,000 kilometers with the Clubsport on the racetrack. Technical support was provided by the renowned Dutch team GP Elite. In 2022, Verstappen sold the vehicle to its current owner, who exported it to the USA.

However, the new owner the RS signed by its famous previous owner in several places: on the dashboard, in the engine compartment, and on the hood. The names of Verstappen and his manager Raymond Vermeulen are also programmed into the digital dashboard. All signatures are documented with photos, and Verstappen’s original purchase contract is also part of the car’s history.
Since 2022, the former Max Verstappen Porsche has been part of a collection
Max Verstappen’s former Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport has a three-color exterior in white, black, and red with lots of visible carbon fiber. Naturally, the interior features only the most essential equipment. However, the passenger seat is an unusual extra that was not part of the GT2 Clubsport’s standard equipment.

The mileage of this racing monster has changed little since Verstappen sold it. Since arriving in the United States, the Clubsport has been stored mostly in static conditions. Its odometer shows a total mileage of only 2,190 kilometers. Today, the car is located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
An exciting opportunity for collectors
Now that Max Verstappen is also represented in the world’s GT racing series via Verstappen.com Racing, one of his former track tools could be of particular interest to collectors. Especially as Verstappen’s last Nürburgring tests under his alias Franz Hermann sparked a real hype around sports car racing.

The Red Bull driver will also soon be acquiring his Nordschleife permit, which will allow him to participate in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. For years, there has been speculation that Verstappen might turn his back on Formula 1 to compete in other legendary races, such as the endurance classic in the Eifel region.
On September 25, 2025, the ex-Verstappen Porsche 991 GT2 RS Clubsport will be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s. The estimated price of $550,000 to $650,000 is roughly in line with current market prices for these rare models. But will a Clubsport with Max Verstappen as its previous owner fetch a higher price? We eagerly await the auction, known as Sealed Drop, which features a total of only six vehicles.

The last word of the 991 – with a signature that everyone knows
This 911 GT2 RS Clubsport combines everything that makes the late 991 so fascinating: uncompromising technology, a clear purpose for the racetrack, and a story that cannot be written. For purists, it is the essence of the 991, for collectors, a rare piece of Porsche contemporary history. And for those who want to not only see motorsport, but feel it, it is a promise: a promise of lap times, authenticity, and a piece of the personal history of one of the greatest racing drivers who ever lived.
Besides the front hood, Max Verstappen also put his signature on the dashboard of his former Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport.
RM Sotheby’s is also auctioning Ken Block’s former rally Porsche at the Sealed Drop Auction.
However, Verstappen’s former track tool is not the only Porsche that will go under the hammer at the auction on September 25, 2025. In addition to two Ferrari 458 Speciales, a 2024 Porsche 992 GT3 RS, and a 1994 RUF BTR4 3.8, a very special Porsche 911 SC Safari will also be up for auction. Rally pro Ken Block, who passed away in 2023, competed in the 2022 East African Classic Rally with this rally 911 built by Tuthill. There, he won eight stages and finished 19th overall. The estimated price range for the Safari 911 is between $450,000 and $550,000.
