Since Porsche owes a not insignificant part of its legendary reputation to the Speedster legend, it is all the more interesting to look at the entire history! It begins with a meeting between Professor Ferdinand Porsche and the US importer Max Hoffman at the 1950 Paris Motor Show and ends with the latest Porsche Speedster in 2020.
In a detailed interview, Porsche veteran Herbert Linge reports on the creation of the 356 Speedster, which was urgently requested from the USA. The conquest of what is still Porsche’s most important sales market to this day could begin.
Almost 30 years later, Porsche again remembered the sales success of the 356 Speedster in the USA and the image gain from this time. In his interview, Friedrich Bezner, who became project manager of the Porsche 911 from 1979, talks about the creation of the first 911 Speedster prototype in 1982, which not even the Board of Management was privy to.
