The 911S represented the pinnacle of Porsches sports car programme in the late 60s and early 70s and for the 2.2S its iconic status was sealed when Steve McQueen used his road car in the opening scene of the film Le Mans in 1971. For many racing drivers, the 911 was the car of choice and with an increase to 2.2 litres, the 911S was now producing 180BHP at a heady 6,500RPM. It has the sweetest sounding engine at full chat and the 901 5 speed gearbox ensures you can keep on song at all times. This together with the light communicative steering ensures the 2.2S is a joy to drive and a firm favourite with 911 aficionados.

We are pleased to offer this 1970 2.2S, finished in its original colour of light yellow (code 117) for sale. Supplied originally to the United States, it remained there until imported by a noted collector to the UK in 2008 before being acquired in 2009 by highly respected UK Porsche restorer Terry Allen for his own personal use. We are informed this 911 was always very solid, however given his profession, it was decided to give the car a full body and mechanical restoration to his typically high standards. A shakedown road test when completed to Bergerac without fault, is a testimony to the quality of the build. Correctly restored early 911s are rare in the market place, this 2.2S is one of them that is on the button and available for immediate enjoyment.
