After producing rear-engined air-cooled cars for three decades, Porsche began experimenting with more mainstream configurations in the late 1970s. The Stuttgart-based company released a series of water-cooled cars with the engine at the front (transaxles), first with the 924 in 1976, then with the 928 in 1978. The Porsche 944 appeared in 1982 with a more performance-oriented take on what the 924 initiated.

This 944 in Mahony metallic was delivered to its first German owner on November 27, 1986. Since then, the car has been top maintained, so it still shines in its factory paint, which is rather exceptional for a 944.

The car was factory equipped with many options and cost more than 24,000€ in 1986 converted.
