Porsche Carrera Racing Engine Kit in 1:3 Scale—Build the Legendary Central-Shaft Engine
Porsche Engine Kit: This transparent, working model kit was developed in collaboration with the Porsche Museum based on original drawings. You’ll snap and screw together the more than 300 plastic parts—some of which are movable—into your very own Carrera racing engine in about six hours. No glue is required—guaranteeing an enjoyable model-building experience! The crankshafts, pistons, and valves move in realistic coordination. Even the ignition sparks in the cylinders are simulated by LEDs. The transparent housing parts make the engine’s mechanics and structure visible and tangible from the outside. The integrated sound module featuring the original Porsche engine sound is another highlight of this highly detailed replica of the technical masterpiece from Zuffenhausen.

The first Porsche racing engine …
The Type 547 Carrera racing engine was the first engine Porsche developed specifically for racing. The development team, led by Ernst Fuhrmann, designed this revolutionary engine with a particular focus on a compact design combined with exceptional robustness. Starting in 1953, this boxer engine—initially producing 110 PS and featuring a 1.5-liter displacement—powered various Porsche race cars to numerous legendary victories. The Carrera Racing Engine Kit brings the Type 547 central-shaft engine to your desk as a transparent working model on a scale of approximately 1:3. With this model—assembled using screws and snap-fit parts—the inner workings of the legendary Fuhrmann engine become tangible—a fascinating engineering project for young and old alike.
