1977 Porsche 911 CARRERA 3.0 for sale!

HooG Selections has just added another very special Porsche 911 to its collection, and what kind….

HooG Selections is very proud to be able to offer you a beautiful example of the Carrera 3.0. Sprayed in ‚Grandprix Weiß‘ and equipped with ‚Fuchs‘ rims in 16 inch (7J front, 8J rear) this copy not only has a fantastic but also correct and original appearance. The interior, equipped with ’sports sitze‘ in a combination of black artificial leather and the well-known ‚Tartan‘ as an insert, is in top condition and is completely original. This Carrera 3.0 was sold new in Germany and first registered in the spring of 1978, on April 28 to be exact. In the spring of 1986, the 911 found its way to America where it stayed until last year until we were able to import the car into the Netherlands. Now, 44 years after its first registration in Germany and after a very extensive and loving treatment by our Porsche specialist, this Carrera 3.0 has been completely restored to its former glory and is ready for the next loving owner.

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

With effect from model year 1976, Porsche introduced a new variant of the 911. This became the Carrera 3.0, which was immediately recognizable by the wider rear wings and the optional ‚whaletail‘ rear spoiler.

The Carrera 3.0 was basically equipped with the same engine as the 930 Turbo, but without its turbocharger. Due to larger intake and exhaust valves, the Carrera 3.0 produced 200 hp, more than the 911 SC, which also had a lighter engine.

In addition to the above changes, the crankcase and gearbox housing were made of aluminum instead of magnesium for a higher degree of reliability. Magnesium tended to expand as engine displacement increased and engine heat generation increased.

Very special is that the flywheel and crankshaft are identical to those of the more than legendary Carrera RS from 1973, which resulted in the performance of the Carrera 3.0 being the same as that of the Carrera RS. The well-known 0-100 km / h sprint therefore takes only 6.1 seconds and the top speed of 236 km / h was also the same as that of the RS.

A nice fact is that the acceleration from 0-200 km / h took only 27 seconds. Not even today a figure for which this rare 911 should be ashamed!

During the two years of production, only slightly more than 2,500 Carrera 3.0 Coupés were built, which makes it a rarity today.
