1967 Porsche 911 S for sale at Driver Source!

On July 25, 1966, capitalizing on the 911’s sales success, the 911 S was introduced as a higher-performance variant for those who wanted the ultimate 911 road car. Modifications raised horsepower from 130 to 160 and the new engine now revved safely to a lofty 7,300 rpm. New Recaro sport seats were available, as were Fuchs forged alloy wheels in a 15″ x 4.5″ size specific to the 1967 911 S. Revered by collectors and enthusiasts alike, these initial 911 S models are among the purest expression of the 911’s original design, and as rewarding to own and drive as any 1960s sports car.

A Superb Example Ideal for use in Porsche Club Events, Tours & Rallies

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

According to its Porsche Kardex and Certificate of Authenticity, 307785S was completed on March 16, 1967 and delivered new through Fa. Mahag Porsche in Munich, Germany on March 31st – outfitted in Polo Red over Black Leatherette with Pepita Inserts and a host of optional equipment. This included: Webasto Heater, Recaro Sport Seats, Dunlop Tires, Sunvisor Mirror, Radio Set, Antenna and Loudspeaker, Radio „Debugging Kit“ (radio interference condenser), Radio Installation, and Halogen Headlights. Mr. Fleck of Langenfeld, Germany took original ownership. A copy of the original Kardex also tracks several noted services up to 1968.

The 911S made its way to the U.S., where Gary Kempton of GK Restorations in Crawfordville, Florida, later acquired the car through an Alabama caretaker. In 1991, after a number of years under Kemp’s ownership, 307785S was sold to Jonathan Lee of Atlanta, Georgia. Lee and Kempton would strike up a friendship, and they agreed that Kempton would completely restore the 911S to as-delivered specification. The fastidious work included the use of many original and NOS parts. The car’s original engine and transaxle are retained and were completely rebuilt, as were all ancillary components. The body was stripped and treated to a new coat of Polo Red, and the interior was retrimmed with Pepita inserts in the original sport seats. Due to periods of inactivity and the budding career of Mr. Lee, the restoration process took 10 years to complete – which is chronicled by a detailed summary and history letter at a cost of over $88,000. Further upkeep and maintenance is recorded thereafter.

Since its completion in 2001, the 911 S has continued to receive fastidious care, while being enjoyed as intended with a now nicely mellowed, yet very presentable display. The exterior’s paintwork is glossy, with minor aging and flaws upon close inspection, while the cabin’s upholstery is nicely trimmed with excellent fit and finishes. In addition to the European band Blaupunkt Frankfurt, and Pepita clad Recaro Sport Seats, period style accessories include; lap belts, rear leather luggage straps and Coco mats. All side and rear glass is correct Sekurit etched, as well as the front Sigla windshield.

Complementing the overall appearance, a period style stainless steel roof rack is mounted with correct snow/water ski straps, Michelin XWX tires on refinished Fuchs wheels, rear AMCO bumper bar and 1968/69 Florida license plate. A matching spare wheel, tool kit and jack accompany the 911’s dossier of records, as well as rare original books, including a 1967 911S Driver’s Manual, Dealer Brochure, Service Station booklet, Technical Specifications booklet, Service / Warranty book, and all Blaupunkt manuals/warranty cards/diagrams.

A January 2020 inspection and scheduled service included a general tune-up, new OEM oil filter and fluids. The car performs effortlessly and is an absolute thrill to drive and head-turner at any gathering. Now available for worldwide purchase and delivery from our Houston, Texas showroom.
