Das Fahrzeug im Detail

By 1989, the ‚G-body‘ 911 Turbo that had captivated the automotive world since the 1974 Paris Motor Show and catapulted Porsche to supercar status was 14 years old. A restyle was overdue, and in 1991, just two years after the Carrera 4 and Carrera 2 debuted, the new 911 Turbo arrived. Internally named the 965, the updated body borrowed styling cues from the futuristic 959, wearing more form-fitting front and rear bumpers and streamlined side sills. The 959’s influence continued underneath the new panels, with the traditional torsion bar front suspension having been replaced by coil spring suspension, in addition to power-steering and anti-lock brakes making their first appearance on series production 911 Turbos.

Now making 320 horsepower, the era-defining 3.3-liter air-cooled, turbocharged engine would only last two more years. In essence, the 1991 and 1992 3.3-liter Turbo was a highly refined version of the legendary and already well-appointed Type 930 with the most luxurious interior ever fitted to a 911, featuring leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, dual airbags, air conditioning, and electric windows as standard.

Completed 15 February 1991 this 3.3-liter 911 Turbo, finished in non-metallic Black over Black partial leather interior, was first delivered in 1992 to Porsche of Newport Beach. The Turbo’s base price of $97,800 was supplemented with optional extras including a limited-slip differential, an electric sliding sunroof, CD-2 Alpine stereo, supple leather seats, and Porsche crest center caps. Additionally, this 1991 Turbo features an Exclusive ‚Z-Order‘ with grey piping on the front seats. The original service book indicates an oil change and 2,000 mile maintenance service completed on 27 November 1992 at the selling dealer. According to its Carfax, it quickly left California, sold in 1993 to just the second and current consigning owner, who has now owned the car for about 30 years. Moving to New York state with 2,199 miles, it has been treated as a collector’s item since, racking up just 4,300 miles since then. Unlike many collector cars that are static display pieces, and can go without servicing for lengthy periods of time, this 1991 911 Turbo’s Carfax indicates regular inspections and emissions testing with a minimal, but gradual accumulation of miles over the past decade. Additionally, it has seen servicing at WMB European Motor Cars and Auto Sport Designs, both based in Huntington Station, New York, beginning in 2006. Most recently, records on file show that this low-mile 911 Turbo visited Import Auto Haus at 6,456 miles in September 2022 for a thorough inspection and service with an oil change, fuel tank drain, new engine sound pad, fresh lower valve cover gaskets, new front hood struts and smaller detail items for a total of $4,241. Subtle modifications are sprinkled throughout with a RUF front spoiler lip, Bilstein coil over shock absorbers, a throatier exhaust, H4 headlights, and a Porsche Classic radio.

With all 911 Turbo variants rightfully considered collectible, Porsche collectors are highly motivated to seek out the best and most original versions of the breed. As a low-mile example it includes many factory pieces not often seen in typical multi-owner examples. A toolkit, jack, and manuals are included with documentation supporting its exceptionally low mileage and two-owner status.
