OVERVIEW
With more than seven decades of high-performance racing, engineering, and award-winning design, the Porsche 911 remains one of the most iconic sports cars ever produced. Offered in a wide range of configurations tailored to varied driving preferences, the uncompromising performance and comfort features of the 911continue to attract new generations of enthusiasts to the Porsche brand. Decades of racing expertise and motorsports dominance remain key to the legacy of Porsche performance, impressing legions of dedicated drivers seeking the very best in sports car design and engineering.
The sixth generation 911 and first phase of the 997 arrived in 2004 under the design direction of legendary Porsche designer Grant Larson. Retaining the legacy rear-engine, rear-drive layout, the 997 benefited from ongoing years of engineering refinements blended with desirable design improvements, suspension enhancements, and the introduction of the much-vaulted all-wheel drive system offered in the Carrera 4. The cabriolet, formerly developed after the coupe, was advanced to the leading position to be certain that structural rigidity was achieved without compromise to the body design. Cabriolets were fitted with a power soft top and a specialized rear wing that automatically deployed to a higher position specific to the aerodynamics of the cabriolet design.

According to the current Carfax, the first owner took delivery in the Wilmington, NC area where it remained until 2009 when it was sold with approximately 3,500 miles. From 2009-2011 the car resided in Hilton Head, SC amassing approximately 10,000 miles before it was sold to the next owner in Texas where it remained until 2017 and subsequently sold to the next owner, a resident of Washington state. Regular services noted in the current accident-free Carfax include oil and filter changes, annual and interval services, fluid flushes, emissions tests, and general inspections.
Today, displaying 71,558 miles, this Carrera 4 Cabriolet presents with excellent factory original paint throughout. The original Atlas Grey Metallic finish has been digitally metered delivering thickness readings consistent with original paint application on all metal panels. The front and rear bumper caps are in excellent condition with excellent fit and finish to the body surfaces. The front fascia and leading edge of the hood display light road speckles consistent with accumulated miles, though these are evident only upon close examination. All opening features open and close with factory shut lines and crisp closure. The factory glass is clean and scratch-free including a clear windshield, tight sealing side glass, and clear rear glass for the convertible top. The lighting and lenses are in excellent condition including the desirable 997 round headlights. The satin silver 19” optional alloy “lobster fork/claw” wheels retain the optional colored center crests and Porsche branded silver brake calipers. A set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are mounted. One of the more intriguing aspects of this era design is the flush Porsche rear wing. Unlike the fixed whale-tail design of the past, when driven at speed, the acceleration-activated rear spoiler raises automatically to improve rear end stability and air flow dynamics. Impressive power from the 3.6-liter engine is even more exhilarating with four-wheel drive, 6-speed manual transmission, and cabriolet driving.
The interior has been very well-maintained with supple leather on all seating surfaces and premium cabin accents. The Bose audio system delivers excellent sound through the multi-speaker cabin even with the top down. The interior surfaces, dashboard, console, and door panels are very nice, though as typically found in these cars, the driver’s seat shows slightly more age to the seat surface. The dashboard, main cluster instrumentation, and easily accessed center console controls are all beautifully laid out and reflective of enthusiast care.
The 6-speed manual gear selector is perfectly located for casual city driving, ergonomically designed to capture ease of use in traffic but also offers high performance actuation when driven with a more spirited intent. The dashboard warning lights and assorted instrumentation operate properly, displaying key operational features and systems status. The carpet, door panels, and rear seat surfaces are in excellent condition, appearing to have been regularly detailed and carefully enjoyed. The desirable power convertible top has excellent headliner and exterior finish and operates smoothly when raised and lowered.
The engine compartment has been thoughtfully maintained and properly serviced. Porsche factory components are in excellent cosmetic condition and engine detailing has been regularly performed. The underside of the car, suspension and driveline casings indicate evidence of regular care, free from any significant marks or notable damage, consistent with the overall impressive cosmetic condition and clean Carfax report.
With a history of unrivaled engineering, iconic design, and Porsche 911 heritage, this beautiful Carrera 4 Cabriolet offers classic elegance and open-air performance. As beautifully maintained examples are becoming harder to find, enthusiast-owned Porsches are becoming more and more desirable, particularly those outfitted with the coveted 6-speed manual transmission.
