The vehicle in detail

The 356 remained in Southern California, passing to Jennie Smith in 1980 and Gary Nakase in 1991. Nakase, a Huntington Beach resident, restored the car and invoices on hand document the work performed by local specialists. The car was repainted in silver and retrimmed. More recently, the 356 was returned to its factory correct Meissen blue and has just received a full engine rebuild which included the installation of a 1720cc “big bore” kit.

Today the Convertible D remains a highly correct and original example, retaining its factory original engine and gearbox as well as numerous stamped body components  particular to the Conv. D. Always in Southern California, it’s evident that this Porsche remains a solid example which has never been fully disassembled for significant repair or restoration. Rather, this Convertible D received cosmetic and mechanical attention as needed, and presents in exceptionally nice driver-quality condition with authenticity.
