This 356 BT5 convertible began its journey on 28.05.1960 with a factory delivery in Stuttgart. Its owner then traveled through Switzerland with the car before sending it on its journey to its new home in California on 10.07.1960 in Antwerp. On August 24, 1960, this 356 was received at the pier in San Francisco and remained in the caring hands of a family until 2012. It is thanks to the loving care of this family that this example was able to survive in its original paintwork and largely untouched. The story can be traced in a documentation that begins with the original service booklet and continues in a small handwritten booklet.
In 2013, the car found its way back to Germany and has since enriched a small private collection.
We are therefore selling the car on behalf of a customer.
The car recently underwent a major service and is fully operational. As it is a truly exceptional collector's item, the car will only be sold into good hands. The awareness of the uniqueness of this car and the desire to maintain and preserve it should have absolute priority.
