By the mid-1960s, production of the 356 was wound down as Porsche bet its future on the all-new six-cylinder 911. Cabriolets were a mainstay of the 356 series, and just 587 were constructed for 1965. As with previous years, the cabriolets were some of the most expensive of the 356s, largely due to their hand-crafted nature. Like any 356, they are a pleasure to drive over long distances, their multi-layer top expertly designed to reduce noise and insulate from the outdoors. The C’s base engine was the 75hp engine of the 1600 Super, with the optional upgrade being the SC. In addition, the C’s torsion bars were slightly smaller in diameter for a better ride.
