The car offered on behalf of the client is one of just 1,234 units of the 356 Pre-A Speedster ever built. Here it is equipped with the 1.5-liter engine.
This car was first delivered in America in the summer of 1955, which qualifies it to participate in the Mille Miglia today.
In the U.S., it was most recently based in California, where it underwent an extensive restoration in the early 2000s. During this restoration, the color scheme was changed from white/black to red/beige. In 2013, the car returned to Germany and was sold the following year through a classic car dealer to its current owner in Bavaria. He purchased the Speedster with a mile odometer, which read 63,708 miles. The mile odometer was subsequently replaced with a kilometer odometer.
Since then, the owner has enjoyed his Speedster on summer drives and maintained the car meticulously. As a result, the odometer now shows a reading of nearly 6,900 km, which the early 356 has covered since then.
Most recently, the carburetors were re-adjusted by a Porsche specialist, the engine and transmission were resealed, and the brakes were adjusted.
As a result, the car is now in very well-maintained overall condition with a beautiful patina and is technically flawless. According to the Porsche certificate of origin, it is in matching numbers condition. The vehicle comes with a spare tire and jack, a car cover, and various invoices dating back to its time in California. The current owner has gone to great lengths to create a dashboard folder containing high-quality reprints of the original owner’s manuals. As a special feature, the car is equipped with the original and very rare 16″ wheel set from 1955; in the photos, it is shown with the standard 15″ wheel set, which was retrofitted to give the car a better driving experience. The original 16″ wheel set is included in the purchase price.
