The Porsche 356 is one of the icons of historic motorsport; the late SC models in particular are regarded as the pinnacle of Type 356 development. Thanks to disc brakes, an improved crankshaft and a higher-compression 1.6-liter boxer engine, the 356 SC offered the sportiest driving experience of the series as early as 1963 - features that make it the first choice for series such as the Historic 356 Cup to this day.
Our vehicle left the factory in 1963 as an SC Coupé, moved into current private ownership in 1999 and was completely stripped down to the bare metal, stripped of paint and rebuilt in 2016/17 regardless of cost. In the process, the air-cooled four-cylinder engine received a gentle power boost to around 130 hp; a suitably tuned 4-speed gearbox remains on board, while a short-ratio replacement kit for hill climbs is included.
Safety and motorsport suitability are guaranteed by a roll cage, Recaro racing seats with 6-point harnesses, an electronic rev limiter and the obligatory FIA-compliant safety tank. The rally equipment includes an original RetroTrip Twin-Master, perfect for regularity or endurance tests. The road approval with H license plate preserves the car's suitability for everyday use; the valid FIA/DMSB-HTP opens the door to historic events on the national and international stage.
Since the restoration was completed, the coupé has only been moved carefully and has never been used in racing again - the bodywork, technology and underbody are correspondingly fresh. In addition to a complete photo and invoice archive, the certificate of first delivery is available; maintenance records from 1999 onwards complete the history.
This SC Coupé offers a rare balancing act for enthusiasts who are looking for pure 356 driving pleasure, but at the same time do not want to do without contemporary safety and motorsport features: a purist classic with genuine racing approval that is just as impressive on the mountain pass road as it is on the starting line of the next mountain, circuit or rally event.
