2020 Porsche 718 Boxter GTS
Since launch, Porsche’s mid-engined cars have had to take a back seat in terms of performance, even against big brother 911, perhaps not stated by the manufacturer himself, but the Cayman/Boxster cars were affected by what is popularly called “the cayman-complex”. A term that describes the feeling that the little brother never got as sharp engines or as much performance to avoid the fantastic chassis from completely overshadowing the 911. The concept disappeared when Porsche chose to launch the phenomenal GT4 in 2015. Suddenly we had a car that gave us everything. The car was met with praise from all channels and was a success from day one. When the 718 was launched with exclusively 4 cylinder engines soon after, it felt like a step backwards, although the new turbocharged engine provided a middle range that was missing from the 981. But then came a new GT4, now with a 4 liter engine and not far behind a new GTS and to the surprise of many with the same engine.
