VEHICLE HISTORY
According to the Porsche delivery confirmation, this 1975 911S Targa was delivered to New York on September 5, 1974. From 1994, the vehicle was driven in the neighboring state of Maryland until it finally returned to Germany in 2012. In 2013, this Targa was extensively restored in Germany by a Porsche-specialized workshop, including various welding jobs to repair the bodywork, and an engine and transmission overhaul. This restoration was commissioned and supervised by the current owner. Since then, this Targa has been part of a classic car collection, which is now being downsized due to its age.
MODEL HISTORY
Porsche launched the first 911 special model in Stuttgart to mark its 25th production anniversary and gave it the name "25 Years of Driving in its Purest Form" . A total of 400 of this special model were produced for the German market and 500 for the American market – here the special model was called "25 Years of Driving in its Purest Form" . At the time, the special model was available in all available body and engine variants: the Targa, the Coupé, the 911, 911s and 911 Carrera. Only 16 special models of the most expensive 911 at the time, the 911 Carrera Targa with 209 hp, were produced.
A special feature of the 25th Anniversary Special Edition, in addition to the silver exterior color and the lavish special equipment for the time, was a specially designed black-gray fabric-leather combination in the interior, as well as a plaque on the glove compartment lid. Furthermore, this 911 was optionally offered with a completely chrome-plated body, a feature previously reserved only for the absolute top-of-the-line 911 Carrera model, and intended to underscore the sporty look of this limited series. The 25th Anniversary 911 was available with either 15-inch ATS magnesium "hacking knife" wheels, painted in a slightly darker silver, or 15-inch Fuchs wheels.
The "25 Years of Driving at its Most Beautiful" special model paved the way for many other special series of the 911. To this day, Porsche continues to produce limited series, which, even 50 years after the first special model, are still extremely popular with collectors. Against this backdrop, it may be particularly exciting for enthusiasts to have the first 911 special model in their own garage.

Mechanically, this Targa functions perfectly; the engine runs well, and the transmission shifts smoothly. As is common with vehicles in the 2.7-liter series, this Targa also has some oil loss.
