THE FINAL G-SERIES
In 1974, Porsche introduced the G-Series 911— the evolution that would arguably define the model’s legacy. Spanning from 1974 to 1989, the G-Series run saw continual refinement, but none more significant than the final act: the 1987–1989 models equipped with the coveted G50 5-speed gearbox. Built by Getrag, this transmission delivered tighter tolerances and smoother shifts, earning it the reputation as one of the greatest transmissions ever built.
As the curtain closed on this generation of 911, Porsche marked the occasion with a 25th Anniversary Edition Carrera. Limited to just 300 coupes and 200 cabriolets for the U.S. market, the 25th Anniversary Edition came equipped with unique celebratory features. These included special Silver Metallic paint (or Satin Black), color-matched Fuchs wheels and a Silk Grey “Ruffled” leather interior with black piping.
