The 911 is considered today as one of the most iconic sports cars ever made, and the most successful sports car ever made, with the one-millionth 911 rolling off the production line in 2017 and still proving to be Porsche’s flagship model today.
The first 911s, or “901” as the initial cars were called, were delivered in 1964, fitted with Porsche’s all-new 1991cc flat-six engine producing 130hp, replacing the 356’s 4-cylinder VW-derived powertrain. Chassis 302864, the car presented here, was completed at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen factory on 11th October 1965 to a Mr Robert J. Row, living in Pacific Palisades, California, and painted Gulf blue (code 6603).
