One-owner, short-wheelbase 911 for the past 58 years, with the matching driveline. Originally delivered on June 10, 1966, by Gramling Porsche Karlsruhe in Germany to Lieutenant Rudolf R. Boentgen with the 555th Engineer Group of the United States Air Force and finished in the original color combination of Bahama Yellow (6605) with Black upholstery. Factory options are extensive, including an antenna, chrome guards, velour carpets, seatbelts, a spare parts bag, radio interference suppression, wheel trims with Porsche crest, an outside thermometer, Koni shock absorbers, a loudspeaker, headrests, and a Webasto gas heater. Particularly notable were the rare factory tartan suitcases and matching tartan bag on the Porsche Kardex; these were period accessories seldom listed. (The luggage is not included and did not come with the 911)

The vehicle in detail

This 911 was purchased by European Collectibles in 2024. It was a very original, solid, and rust-free example with original paint and interior that had been stored for several decades. European Collectibles did a comprehensive cosmetic and mechanical restoration from 2024 to 2026. The body was stripped to steel, prepped, painted, color-sanded, and glazed in its original color of Bahama Yellow with Glasurit German paint. The 911 was then reassembled with the original glass, new rubber seals, and trim. The undercarriage and suspension components were stripped to bare metal and refinished to factory specifications. The suspension and braking system were rebuilt, and the fuel system was overhauled.

The Bahama Yellow paintwork is simply stunning and contrasts beautifully with the re-chromed brightwork. All the exterior rubber seals were replaced, the aluminum trim was restored, and it is equipped with Hella 128 fog lights. The interior is mostly original, with factory headrests, and select components have been reupholstered. The VDM steering wheel with deluxe horn ring is in beautiful condition, and the VDO instrumentation was restored, with a wood dash and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. The Fuch 6” x 15” alloy wheels were refinished and mounted to Vredestein Sprint Classic 185 70 HR15 tires (dated 2025).

Mechanically, this 911 is a pleasure to drive, nimble, and very quick. It is powered by the numbers-matching drive line, the 2.0-liter flat-six engine (Type 901/05) produces 130 horsepower, paired to a manual five-speed transmission (Type 902/1) and a four-wheel disc braking system. European Collectibles rebuild the matching 2.0L engine, which consisted of completely disassembling the engine, valve job on the cylinder heads, new pistons and cylinders, mag and polished the crankshaft, re-bush and resize the rods, clean, prep, and paint all necessary parts, resealing the engine, reinstall, start-up and set specs, top off fluid levels, and road test. Other work included rebuilding the distributor, replacing the clutch, oil lines, oil-pressure sender, fuel-pickup tube, fuel tank, and battery. Following reassembly, the 911 was carefully road-tested, adjusted, and tuned to ensure proper operation and drivability. This early short-wheelbase 911 represents a rare opportunity to acquire a well-sorted, numbers-matching example finished in a highly desirable original color combination.
