1969 Porsche 911T Sunroof Coupe – R-Gruppe Hot Rod

Built by Ryan Turri and powered by a naturally aspirated 3.3-liter flat-six. The engine case is a 930 Turbo 3.3-liter (Type 930/60) 3,318cc displacement with a 70.4mm stroke, 100.0mm pistons, GE60 camshafts, twin-plug ignition, 3.2 Carrera oil cooler, and 46 Weber carburetors. The engine was original built by Gary Dielacher at GD Racing of San Mateo, California. In January of 2020 Schneider Autohaus in Santa Barbara, California did a freshen up on the engine and an additional $25,000 was spent. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a short-ratio 915 five-speed manual transmission which was rebuilt by Charles Rossignol of California. Factory gearing was retained from first to third, but fourth and fifth were replaced with shorter SN and QQ gears. Handling upgrades include 911SC-spec Bilstein suspension and brakes in addition to 911SC adjustable spring plates, larger torsion bars, Rebel Racing bushings, and adjustable front and rear sway bars from Tarett Engineering. The goal was to build a performance 911.

The vehicle in detail

The 911 was originally delivered in Silver Metallic (color code 6851), but the exterior was refinished in a Grey-Black, a factory option on the 997.2 GT3 RS (similar to Slate Grey). The interior features Le Mans T85 sport seats that have been upholstered in Red leather with cloth inserts, all the factory trim panels match, black carpeting. The electric sunroof works perfectly with no issues. A new Porsche dash has been installed with a black Prototipo steering wheel from Momo. Factory VDO instrumentation have been restored by North Hollywood Speedometer and includes a 150-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 59k miles. It is truly in exceptional condition!

Both the body & undercarriage are extremely dry & straight with no signs of damage or rust. The entire car was disassembled, and all the glass was removed. An aluminum hood and rear decklid were sourced from Aase Sales. The weight of the vehicle is a mere 2,239 pounds without a driver.

Internally, the original fuel tank has been replaced with a 22-gallon 911SC fuel tank. Externally, European H4 headlights have been installed, “S” front spoiler, deep 6” x 15” Fuch alloy rims with new Vredestein Sprint Classic 185/70R15 tires, and a muffler skirt.

The best part is not how good she looks but the way this 911 drives. It is pure Porsche. There is nothing like the way these long hood 911s handle. They are very nimble, and you feel the road with every turn. The 3.3-liter motor also has a very free rev which is like no other 911. This engine runs absolutely perfect and the 915 transmission shifts precisely & is very smooth. The steering is light and responsive. The four-wheel oversized disc brakes stop the car straight and have been completely rebuilt along with the suspension. An ideal 911 for any vintage touring event. Rare opportunity to find an exceptionally well-built 911 that has been restored and sorted.
