The vehicle in detail

Following its arrival in 1964, Porsche’s 911 sportscar enjoyed rapid development driven in part by the model’s outstanding performance in competition. Against this backdrop of on-track success led by the 911 RS and 911 RSR models, the mid-ranged Carrera 3.0 was launched, which utlised a naturally aspirated version of the 930-generation Turbo engine. While some Carrera 3.0 owners in 1975 no doubt lusted after the top-of-the-range Turbo, those of a motorsport bent would have been transfixed by the 15 RS examples built by Roger Penske to contest the International Race of Champions (IROC).

Resident in Italy prior to its export to Germany in 2015, this car began life as a 1975 911 Carrera 3.0 before being transformed into an RS-style ‘IROC Recreation’ in 2017 by Mike Gnani’s Eleven Solutions, and Franz-Josef Schwarz’s Barus Racing, both of Germany. As the subject of a comprehensive mechanical rebuild in 2021 by SG-Racing of Belgium, costing €20,521, it received revised brakes, clutch, flywheel, gearbox, and pistons, while the engine is claimed to now produce 315 horsepower.

This fascinating 911 is complete with FIA HTP papers issued on 7 February 2017. A multi-year veteran of Modena Cento Ore, it has been campaigned in various “Periods G-H-I” classes in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. This Porsche’s eligibility for many of the most exciting historic motorsport events makes this 911 a seriously tempting proposition for The competition-minded enthusiast.
