Model History
The Porsche 911 was introduced in 1963 and produced from 1964. The model, with its air-cooled rear engine, remained the hallmark of the series until 1989. Equally appreciated as a road and racing car, the 911 enjoyed great success in motorsports—especially in the form of the 911 derivative, the 935. In 1989, the classic was replaced by the technically revised, but visually similar Porsche 964.
