1973 Porsche 911 T Coupe – Authentic Motorcars

Porsche introduced the 911 in 1964 as a successor to their widely loved 356. The 911 (initially called the 901) was designed to offer the fun of the 356 while providing more comfort, room and power. The 901 cemented Porsche’s commitment to the rear-engined, rear wheel drive format that carries on in the 911 line even today. Throughout the early years, many updates were made and new trim levels were added as Porsche tried to perfect the formula. In 1967, the 911T was introduced to replace the 912 with a tuned-down version of the 2.0L engine. In 1971, the whole 911 range received an upgrade to 2.4L and the range expanded to offer the T, S, L and E. Also new for this facelift was the beefed up 915 5-speed transmission which was used all the way through 1986. In 1974, a 2.7L engine and large heavy impact bumpers were added, destroying the simple, beautiful lines of the earlier cars.

This 1973 911T Coupe is one of the last of the long nose cars, equipped with its original numbers matching fuel injected 2.4L engine. It received a custom restoration/performance build by Liberty Motorsports, a shop renowned for their work on 356s and early 911s. During this restoration, it was lightly modified to create a perfect road rally car. It received a full repaint in Porsche Slate Grey and the interior was redone in very attractive Red/Black combo. Originally this 911 was a factory comfort package car and still retains the S gauges, chrome rocker panels, leather-covered steering wheel and rare gold Porsche/911T badging. Though this car has been restored, it still retains all it’s original sheet metal and floor pan as they were rust free.

During the restoration, the motor was rebuilt (including the MFI unit) and oil-fed Carrera timing chain tensioners were installed. Outside, this 911T benefits from a steel S front spoiler and S trim, along with polished aluminum trim, rare quad tip Ansa performance exhaust, Slate Grey color matched/polished dated Fuch’s wheels and an original spare steel wheel in the trunk. European H4 headlamps, front and rear fog lamps, Italian market front side directional lights and hood mounted rally lights are a welcome addition for evening time trials. The suspension has been lowered, red Koni classic shock absorbers installed, and a carbon fiber/ aluminum upper front strut bar fitted. The interior was completely redone with new custom red cut/bound square-weave wool carpet, black perforated headliner, red seat belts, dash mounted twin rally stop watches and altimeter, combined with beautiful custom vintage Recaro seats covered in corduroy all complete the road rally inspired look.

Any 911 enthusiast will be happy owning this one of a kind long nose Porsche. This car is guaranteed to wow crowds at club events and cars and coffee gatherings alike. A complete tool kit, Bilstein jack, original sales brochure, extensive restoration receipts, Certificate of Authenticity, and a owner’s manual is included with the sale of the car.
