Those who found the Carrera RS not uncompromising enough could order the Porsche 964 Carrera RS N/GT.
This was a homologation model for Group N.
Original N/GT models can be identified by the equipment code M003.
Insulation, carpets, and headliners were completely omitted, and the car came with a welded-in roll cage ex works. Porsche also equipped the 964 Carrera RS N/GT with a fire extinguishing system, Schroth belts, an emergency stop switch, and a larger fuel tank. Plywood footrests replaced the floor mats.
There were 290 orders for this most extreme of all RS models. The engine power remained unchanged at 260 hp, while the weight was reduced by another 70 kg to 1,150 kg.
