It arrived in France in 1998 and has only had three owners. Of course, we have the original logbook, documentation and an invoice file. A recent service was carried out by specialist MJ Technic for over €10,000, including a new clutch. A compression measurement and leak test were carried out, the results of which are available on request. The car has been partially repainted over the years.
After many years of service, the faithful 930 Turbo, the first of its name, has had its day. Porsche, now renowned for its ‘Turbo’ expertise, had to upgrade its iconic car. With the ‘G’ generation giving way to the all-new 964, the new Turbo was unofficially called the 965. The 964 marked an important turning point in the history of the 911: it introduced triangulated running gear after 25 years of torsion bars and became the first Porsche to be equipped with 4-wheel drive.
The 964 Turbo made its debut at the 1990 Geneva Motor Show. The Turbo 3.3 took over the bodywork of the 964 and its new running gear, but inherited the engine from its predecessor. The 3.3-litre 6-cylinder flat-six that had appeared a few years earlier was retained, albeit with a new design. The latter gains 20 bhp, taking the total to 320 bhp at 5,750 rpm. Porsche claims a top speed of 270 kph, while the 0-100 kph time falls to 5 seconds. The G50/52 5-speed gearbox does its part to perfection.
In terms of styling, it takes up the new lines of the 964, as well as its sober, practical interior. As for the rest, the ‘Turbo Look’ is back, with wide wings that contrast even more sharply with the front end than on previous 930s. The large signature spoiler is also back. The result? Aggression in keeping with the beast. The Fuchs have been consigned to the cupboard, leaving the 5-spoke design to shine – contributing to the sportiness and modernity of this new Turbo. The rear-view mirrors are Cup Design and the callipers are painted black. Finally, under the spoiler, the 964 Turbo has two tailpipes. Combined springs and dampers are another new feature, along with standard power steering and ABS. Handling is the Turbo’s strong point. Power and stability were the watchwords. A total of 3,660 units were produced before the engine capacity was increased to 3.6 litres.
