Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this special Boxster 981 Black Edition, which boasts the manual 6-speed transmission and looks superb in Jet Black with black leather seats.
The third-generation Boxster was announced at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show with sales starting in early summer 2012. The new Boxster reflected the new design language from the 991 and 918, and featured new and revised engine and transmission specifications.
In addition to the new body, the type 981 Boxster features a new chassis which was 40 per cent more torsionally-rigid: the front track is 40mm wider, the rear 18mm wider and the wheelbase extended by 60mm. It still managed to make a weight reduction of up to 35 kilograms compared to the previous type 987 Boxster.
The 2.7 litre boxer-six 981is held in high esteem with the Porsche purists as this was the last of the naturally aspirated engines before the successor to a smaller 2.0 litre flat-four turbocharged power plant. The Boxster Black Edition’s main feature is the deep-black colour covering its exterior from bumper to bumper. The 261 bhp boxer 6-cylinder engine produced 280 Nm torque: 0-60 mph was achieved in just 5.5 seconds and top speed was 164 mph.
Both the soft-top and the roll-over hoops are finished in black for a consistent look with the top up or down. Rounding off this exclusive exterior is a set of 20-inch, Carrera Classic wheels, and the bi-Xenon headlamps with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) with blacked-out surrounds.
This smart example was supplied new in March 2016 by Porsche Centre Silverstone, which made it a very late-registered normally-aspirated Boxster. It has a complete service history and is one of the lowest mileage examples available. Available to view now at our London showrooms.
