2015 The Porsche 981 is the name given to the third series of the Boxster, or the second Cayman generation (981c). It was available between 2012 and 2016. The vehicles in the Porsche 981 series are mid-engined sports cars with six-cylinder boxer engines. These ranged in displacement from 2.7 to 3.8 liters and produced 265 to 385 horsepower. Porsche produced 54,374 981-generation Boxsters and approximately 40,000 Cayman 981c.
