Released exclusively for the 2016 model year, the 981-generation Boxster Spyder marked the last of the naturally aspirated Boxsters. With a 3.8-liter flat-six engine taken from the 911 Carrera S and a light curb-weight of 2,899 pounds, the 981 Boxster Spyder positioned itself as the greatest power-to-weight ratio and lowest center of gravity Boxster model released. Of the estimated 2,480 units produced worldwide, it is believed less than 850 981 Boxster Spyders ultimately made it stateside.
