The Porsche Boxster (code 986) was crucial for Porsche, as the 968 and 928 had been discontinued after many years of service, leaving only the 911 (993) to drive sales volume and, therefore, revenue. The launch of the 986 Boxster proved to be a strategic move: the goal was to win back customers’ hearts, expand the customer base, and revive a struggling model. We often forget this, but in the mid-1990s, Porsche wasn’t yet the company it is today!

In 1996, before the new 911 (996) was introduced, Porsche unveiled its new “Baby” model. While everyone expected an air-cooled flat-6, the Boxster debuted water-cooling instead! A crime in the eyes of Porsche enthusiasts! And yet… it works so well!

We ended up with an effective and affordable car! Between 1996 and 2004, about 100,000 units were sold—numbers never before achieved by a Porsche! A massive success.

It’s now fully recognized as a Porsche, and—believe me—at times it’s so much more fun than a 911! After all, in the Boxster, the engine is in the right place!

It’s a great “youngtimer” for a weekend getaway thanks to its two spacious luggage compartments, or simply for running out to buy bread on Sunday morning.

Our example is beautiful, in great condition, and very well equipped!! The interior is particularly well-maintained for its age! No rattling or broken plastic parts.
