Porsche 993 Carrera

Porsche 993 Carrera

Coupé, 1995

Highlights

  • Low mileage
  • Original paint
  • Sunroof

Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1993, the 911 type 993 is a good successor to the 964. Designed by Harm Lagaay’s team, the 993 has a new face with 959-style sloping headlights and a smoother, softer line than the previous 911s.

Although the 993’s curves are more pronounced than those of the 964, it will receive a more than reserved welcome when it is presented to the brand’s customers.
The 993 is the last air-cooled model and features a new all-aluminum 3600cc flat 6 with dual ignition.

The vehicle in detail

It is now equipped with a hydraulic valve lash adjustment system to reduce maintenance costs.

This block, treated with nikasil, improves on all points: maximum power and torque.
The new catalytic converter system modifies the exhaust system in depth and it now has 2 outlets.

The G50 gearbox has also been modified and lightened to accommodate a sixth gear without being overweight.

This does not significantly increase the top speed but rather reduces fuel consumption in 6th gear and, thanks to the shortened ratios, significantly improves acceleration.

The chassis has also been extensively modified and has made progress in terms of dynamics and passive safety, thanks in particular to the multi-link rear axle (LSA) which limits the effects of the engine in the rear overhang.
Similarly, the smoother power steering is also more precise.

On the other hand, the sharp front end is sensitive and needs to be adjusted carefully and regularly.

The model presented here is a 1995 993 Carrera 2 in its original Natchblau F8F8 color.
This car is matching numbers and matching color and is generously equipped with options such as a locking differential.

The booklet also confirms the extensive and regular maintenance this car has undergone.
A complete file of invoices is present, in 2020 major work has been done on the car for 13000€:

-Repair of the steering rack.
-Change of the rear gear rods.
-Complete dismantling of the engine to redo the waterproofing (everything has been checked engine including the complete waterproofing, a new clutch all done at Pascal Germain (GT Sport) who knows this car very well.

The bodywork is in excellent condition and the curves of this 911 enhance the midnight blue color contrasting with the grey interior.
The rest of the car shows no signs of wear, tear or damage.

The original carpets and upholstery are also in excellent condition.

The whole car is in near new condition with no discoloration, deformation or cracks.
The mechanics work perfectly as well as the air conditioning, the sunroof, the electric heated seats etc.

The flat 6 starts at the quarter turn, without any smoke or abnormal noise.

The short 6-speed gearbox (G5021) shifts perfectly, without any hiccups or abnormal whistles.

The brakes are well aligned and have excellent bite and endurance.
During the dynamic test, we didn’t notice any abnormal parasitic noise in the body or in the running gear (ball joints, silent blocks…)
The car is entirely original, except for the Fuchs rims and the EvoX exhaust system, but the original parts will be sold with the car.

Unwelcome by the porschists when it was presented in 1993, the 993 has since taken a revenge as brilliant as predictable: it is now the most sought after modern 911.
Its very sexy lines, its status as the last “real” air-cooled 911 and its legendary reliability ensure it a bright future in the collection and an excellent rating over time.
It will certainly take the place of the famous 3.2 in the hearts of the porschists and constitutes a pleasure purchase but also a sure value.
