The 993 is today the most coveted generation of all existing ones and for two compelling reasons: it is the last air-cooled 911 and possibly the most beautiful of all.
There are people who also think that it is because very few were manufactured, but the reality is that with almost 70,000 units, a few fewer were sold than the previous generation.
And for an expensive car -it always has been- (remember that we are talking about figures around 15,000,000 pesetas from before, with which, for example, here in Barcelona without going to the upper area you could have bought three floors …), it is a really good sales figure for a sports car of these characteristics.
What was short was its life, since it was only on the market for 5 years (from 1994 to 1998), but it can be said that it was a very intense life. The previous generation was selling relatively well but the brand was not going through its best moment. A little over a decade ago, they had decided to diversify their offer by putting more luxurious and “usable” Porsches on the market, with a front engine, more affordable prices and less focused on enjoyment behind the wheel. In the end, the thinking head was not a visionary who be said.
