Unveiled at the 1993 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 911 Type 993 succeeded the 964. Thanks to its stunning design, the car was an immediate and huge success. It featured a completely new front end with slanted headlights, as well as a sleeker, more refined silhouette compared to previous models. The introduction of the 993 was a major milestone in Porsche’s history; it was the last model to use the air-cooled engine, a hallmark of the 911 since its launch.
The 911 Type 993 is considered by many to be the most beautiful of all 911s because it retains the classic silhouette while incorporating modern mechanical and aesthetic features. Along with the introduction of the streamlined body, a multi-link rear suspension improved comfort and dynamic handling by reducing the tendency to oversteer. The 993 Carrera 4 Cabriolet features a new all-aluminum 3.6L flat-6 engine producing 272 chevaux. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 270 km/h.
