1995 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Clubsport for sale!

Accompanied by owner’s manuals, service booklet, air compressor, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity

Porsche built 1,104 examples of the lightweight special-edition Carrera RS, but it would not prove to be the most extreme factory-produced evolution of the 911 on the 993 chassis. That distinction goes to the track-focused 911 Carrera RS Clubsport, of which only 227 are believed to have been produced. It was based on the Carrera Cup competition car and specifically conceived as a homologation special for the BPR Global GT Series GT3 and GT4 categories.

The vehicle in detail

The standard 3.6-liter engine of the Carrera RS was bumped up to 3,746 cubic-centimeters by increasing the bore to 102 millimeters, while retaining the RS’ 76.4-millimeter stroke. This engine was also fitted with Porsche’s innovative VarioRam intake system and the Bosch Motronic engine-management system. With these changes, it produced a very healthy 300 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 262 pounds-feet of torque at 5,400 rpm. Power was delivered through a single-mass flywheel to a type G50/31 six-speed manual transaxle.

Porsche also focused on making the Clubsport as light as possible using an aluminum front hood, lightweight interior door cards, thinner glass, and Recaro sports seats with six-point racing belts. The headliner was deleted, along with the electric mirrors, central locking system, intermittent wipers, radio and speakers, rear defroster, and airbags. These accoutrements made way for additional racing-focused hardware, including a full, welded-in Matter roll cage, front strut brace, ball-joint front damper mounts, adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars, a battery cut-off switch, and a fire extinguisher. A special front air splitter and large rear wing made the Clubsport visually unique.

This Carrera RS Clubsport was delivered new to Germany in March 1995. It was equipped from the factory with a stronger battery, radio delete, dome strut, fixed spoiler with additional wing, windscreen tint, air conditioning, and cloth/leatherette seats. The original service book indicates the car was delivered new to Porsche Zentrum Ulm in Willich, Germany and was serviced twice by the supplying dealer. In 1997 the car was sold to a buyer in Jersey before being acquired by a private collector in September of 2006. In 2019, the Porsche entered its current period of ownership.

Finished in Guards Red (G1) exterior paint, this example has been cherished by its owner for the last 12 years and has been maintained at regular service intervals. The speedometer was replaced in 1998 when the car was exported from Germany with 23,000 miles logged on the odometer. It is now showing 42,818 miles, making the total mileage approximately 65,818 miles.

Under current ownership, this Carrera RS Clubsport was sent to a marque specialist in Connecticut in February 2021 for extensive service that concluded in spring 2022 at an expense of $52,986. Following a comprehensive inspection, the suspension was rebuilt and fitted with new control arms, bushings, and shock absorbers. The brake system was also rebuilt and the exhaust system was replaced, as were all 12 valvetrain lifters. The Carrera RS Clubsport will be accompanied by owner’s manuals, service booklet, air compressor, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

For enthusiasts who enjoy the thrill of a Porsche’s full potential on the track, there is perhaps no factory-built 993-generation 911 better suited than the Carrera RS Clubsport—essentially a road-legal race car. Attractively finished in a classic color scheme and benefitting from recently completed extensive mechanical refurbishment, this extremely rare Carrera RS Clubsport is ready to provide its next custodian with endless exhilaration, whether on the circuit or backcountry roads.
