The vehicle in detail

Chassis No. WP0AC2994VS375989

As Porsche began the transition of the iconic 911 from air-cooled to water-cooled with the 996 generation, the marque gave its celebrated 993 platform a final, fitting sendoff. Tasked with this mission, Porsche Exclusive developed the ultimate evolution of the air-cooled Turbo—the limited-production 911 Turbo S. Merging luxury with motorsport-grade performance, this flagship 911 was engineered to represent the pinnacle of air-cooled Turbo street car development, offering heightened power, exclusivity, and refinement in equal measure.

Built over two model years in highly limited numbers, just 345 examples of the 911 Turbo S were produced by Porsche Exclusive, with only 183 delivered to the United States. Each was powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six equipped with the X50 Power Package, boosting output to 430 horsepower and 423 lb-ft of torque. This was achieved through a pair of larger K24 turbochargers, a more efficient intercooler, an additional oil cooler, and enhanced Bosch Motronic engine management. The result was sharper throttle response, stronger mid-range performance, and increased top-end capability—all without sacrificing reliability or driveability.

Power was routed through a six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential and Porsche’s advanced all-wheel-drive system, first pioneered on the groundbreaking 959 supercar. Visually, the Turbo S distinguished itself with its aggressive Aerokit II rear wing, redesigned front air ducts with integrated fog lamps, and unique rear quarter-panel air intakes inspired by the 959. A four-pipe exhaust system—a subtle hallmark of special turbocharged Porsche engines—reinforced the car’s serious performance intent, while exclusive badging inside and out underscored its rarity and status.

Riding on distinctive 18-inch “Turbo Twist” light-alloy wheels finished in a special “metal gloss effect” by Cetelon—a wheel finish reserved solely for the Turbo S—the car concealed massive 12.6-inch cross-drilled and ventilated disc brakes with multi-piston calipers. Capable of a run to 60 miles per hour in just over four seconds and a top speed approaching 185 miles per hour, the Turbo S delivered explosive performance. Yet, it remained remarkably refined, featuring full leather upholstery, premium amenities, and Porsche’s hallmark build quality. Depending on the pilot, this final air-cooled Turbo could be as much of a grand tourer as it was a supercar, making it one of the most coveted 911s of its era.

This rare 993-generation 911 Turbo S was optioned with Racing Style front Sport Seats in Black leather with body-color Speed Yellow painted Sport Seat backs, rear window wiper delete, Digital Sound Package, Storage in Place of Rear Seats, and Infra Red Security System. Furthermore, its VINAnalytics report shows the car was ordered with a number of additional “Z-Orders” that included an RS-style storage compartment rather than a cassette holder, Porsche crested headrests with special placement, and Speed Yellow seatbelts. As with all 911 Turbo S models, this example features the distinctive Aerokit II front and rear spoilers, front brake cooling ducts, quad exhaust tips, and 959-style air intakes in the rear quarters. The model’s unique exterior features are further accentuated by its Speed Yellow paintwork, Speed Yellow-finished brake calipers, and 18-inch hollow-spoke Cetelon-finished wheels. It features a matching Black full leather interior, complemented by carbon fiber trim on the dashboard, instrument surround, door panels, door pulls, shifter, and handbrake lever. Additional bespoke touches include aluminum-look instrument dials, stainless steel door sills with model designation, and “Turbo S” embroidered carpet in the luggage compartment.

The accompanying clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report records initial entries between July 1997 and December 2002 in Illinois. After a short stay in Tennessee, it was acquired by its third owner based in Florida with 2,609 miles in 2005. Subsequent ownership is recorded in California, a return to Illinois, and then Michigan. In May 2021, this rare Turbo S was acquired with just 4,034 original miles by its current caretaker based in Southern California. After over a quarter-century, this Turbo S remains a highly original, unmodified example featuring just 4,038 miles at the time of cataloging.

Crafted by Porsche Exclusive, the 911 Turbo S coupe delivered exhilarating performance wrapped in a remarkably refined package. In true Porsche fashion it was created to be perfectly suited for everyday driving yet capable of unleashing astonishing acceleration and handling when called upon. Over the past 25 years, this limited-production supercar has become arguably the most desirable iteration of Porsche’s final air-cooled 911 Turbo. With its distinctive styling, formidable power, timeless 911 silhouette, and—in the case of this example—low mileage and a recent service by Beverly Hills Porsche, its collectability shows no signs of waning. For the Porsche purist, few models are more coveted.
