Porsche 996 Turbo

Porsche 996 Turbo

Coupé, 2002

Highlights

  • Complete Mechanical and Cosmetic Refreshing
  • Collision Free
  • Extensive Upgrades

Purchased by the selling dealer in 2016 requiring engine repairs, this 996 Turbo ended up undergoing an intensive re-commissioning as part of our in-house collection, including the following revisions.

Engine rebuilt completely due to a failed intermediate shaft drive gear. All new Original Porsche parts used in rebuilding of the motor to original specifications. All coolant fittings pinned, all external wear components replaced (water pump, water hoses), turbochargers rebuilt. All new sensors fitted. New radiators and air conditioning condensers installed.

The vehicle in detail

Cobb Accessport tuner. Injector dynamics / Cobb fuel injectors installed.

997 GT2 Intercoolers installed.

Single mass flywheel installed with new GT2 RS clutch assembly. BBI clutch slave cylinder fitted.

Transmission rebuilt completely. Upgraded to 997 GT2 RS mainshaft, 1,2,3 gears. Guard limited slip differential installed.

Converted to two wheel drive. Front differential and driveshafts removed.

Numeric Racing shift cables and 997 shift console.

Europipe exhaust.

Ohlins Road and Track suspension for GT2 / GT3. GT2 / GT3 front uprights. Tarett front upper monoball camber plates and sway bar end links. GMG Racing anti roll bar package front and rear. GT3 front lower control arms.

Front brakes converted to 996 GT2 / GT3. All brake calipers painted body colour. Goodridge stainless brake lines. All new brake pads and rotors.

BBS RI-A forged 18″ wheel package with GT2 specification Pirelli PZero Rosso tires.

Body colour painted centre console, rear harness bar and GT3 / GT2 seat backs. Original Porsche bucket seats. Centre cushions re-upholstered in wool Pepita material.

Chassis is collision free, and was thoroughly dis-assembled for a complete refinish / colour change to Irish Green (Y79 Irischgruen). The only areas not painted were the front battery tray / cowl and front tub sections. The colour change is very comprehensive and the paint result is of a very high quality. All seals were removed / replaced.

The intention was to create a much sportier 996 Turbo with a great deal of GT car influence. The result is a 996 Turbo that has the mechanical feel of a more refined 996 GT2 with far better than original suspension and a host of other upgrades. It retains the relatively restrained visuals of a 996 Turbo without embellishment, but the colour palette definitely makes for a more interesting vehicle in our books and was built without regard for cost so whomever purchases it will end up with a phenomenal car at a price that pales in comparison to the build costs.
