Carrera GTS: Porsche 911 now even sportier
Stuttgart. With 408 hp, high driving dynamics and sporty equipment, the new 911 Carrera GTS takes the lead in the Carrera model series. Another 23 hp more powerful than the 911 Carrera S, the new GTS - available as a Coupé and Cabriolet - with a 3.8-liter engine closes the gap to the 911 GT3 with 435 hp.
Unique within the Carrera family, the 911 Carrera GTS combines the 44 millimeter wider Carrera 4 body of the all-wheel drive models, including a wider track, with classic rear-wheel drive. The GTS also sets itself apart from the other Carrera models in many other details, both visually and technically. For example, it rolls on black-painted 19-inch RS Spyder wheels with central locking and polished rim flange as standard, which are fitted with 305/30 ZR 19 tires on the rear axle. Other visual features include the SportDesign front apron with black-painted spoiler lip, special black side skirts and black or silver Carrera GTS lettering on the doors and boot lid, depending on the exterior color. The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS will celebrate its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show at the beginning of October.
Particular attention was paid to the throttle response of the now 408 hp 3.8-liter boxer engine: In the special resonance intake system, six vacuum-controlled flaps now switch between power- and torque-optimized geometry, whereas in the Carrera S engine this is handled by just a single flap. This means that the maximum torque of an unchanged 420 Newton meters is already reached at 4200 rpm, 200 revs earlier than in the Carrera S. This is complemented on the exhaust side by the sports exhaust system with two independently designed twin tailpipes, the outer shells of which are painted black, while the inner pipes are polished and nano-coated on the outside. The Carrera GTS is equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard; the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) is available as an option. Compared to the Carrera S, the top speed with manual transmission increases by four to 306 kph. Acceleration from zero to 100 kph generally improves by 0.1 seconds and is 4.2 seconds in Sport Plus mode on the GTS Coupé with PDK in conjunction with the Sport Chrono Package Plus, for example. Fuel consumption in the NEDC for the Carrera GTS with PDK is 10.2 liters/100 km, CO2 emissions are 240 g/km.
