The Porsche 911 GT2 (997) is one of the most extreme production cars Porsche has ever built. It debuted around 2007 and was based on the 911 Turbo, but without all-wheel drive and with even more power.
Under the hood was a 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine with two turbos, producing about 530 hp (later even 620 hp in the GT2 RS). Because all the power went to the rear wheels, the car was known for being difficult to control—especially at high speeds or on wet roads. The 997 GT2 was also remarkably light thanks to the use of carbon fiber components and a minimalist interior. This allowed it to sprint to 100 km/h in about 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of over 320 km/h.
