What you are looking at is what I would consider to be the baddest 997 Turbo listed for sale anywhere in this country, maybe even the world… I have spent the past few years meticulously modifying and building this 997.1 Turbo into the beast that you see today, which I often refer to as the “GT Killer”. This all started when I drove my little brothers’ 997 GT3, which quite frankly, ruined me. After the unfortunate event that I was rear ended in December of 2020 (pics & info provided in listing), I decided to use that collision and the subsequent repairs as the catalyst to turn this car into a one-of-a-kind Turbo beast that would give any 997 GT-generation car a run for its money. Imagine GT3 precision handling with the power delivery of a twin turbo.
There is no tune or upgraded Turbos on this car, and for very specific reasons; Since this car came with the factory Sport Chrono Package, providing 480HP and over 505 lb.ft. of torque in Sport mode, I have never felt like I wanted more power from the motor. What the factory Turbo desperately needs is a complete suspension replacement and conversion to GT equivalent. The stock power and AWD system is fantastic, all you need is the ability to retain that power and speed with even better handling dynamics. In addition to suspension overhaul, another key important task to complete was a full car major maintenance job including preventative fixes such as welded coolant pipes & camshaft pinning, so I would have a bulletproof and 100% reliable car that I could use for a road trip or track day in a moments notice. That is what this car delivers.
After the rear end collision in December 2020, the car was completely repaired to a better than new condition(at West Coast Specialties in San Diego), which to briefly summarize, included brand new factory Porsche front and rear bumpers including all other components of those bumpers, and I paid extra on top of insurance to add the period correct 997 GT2 rear engine lid and wing (by NRauto), as well as having the entire car repainted (minus the roof). When the car repair was finished in 2021, it was essentially a brand new car cosmetically, and I have since then done a full car Paint Protection Film (PPF) to protect that new paint. The car as she sits today is nearly flawless front to back, top to bottom.
The extensive work on the chassis transformation, to the tune of over $30,000, includes the following: Complete replacement of nearly every component of the stock suspension with GT3/Cup equivalent parts to lower the car and achieve perfect geometry, handling, and bump steer elimination. The hubs have been converted to centerlock using all factory Porsche 997.2 GT3 centerlock parts, then finished with forged BBS Motorsport RE-MTSP wheels in 997.2 GT2RS spec sizes, wrapped in CUP2 tires. What this build achieves is a handling capability similar to a 997.2 GT car, but combined with the additional grip from the Turbo’s AWD system. The result is superior handling dynamics. If one wanted to, it is very affordable to non-destructively convert the AWD to RWD and reduce the weight even further.
In the past year alone, I have done extensive work with one of the absolute best and well renowned Porsche shops you could ever go to; True Performance LLC. This work comprised of engine out, and a laundry list of serious preventative maintenance (welded coolant pipes and pinned camshaft), performance upgrades, and many new factory Porsche parts installed to keep this machine operating at the highest level at all times, with no worries for me, or the next owner. Please refer to the images for more detail on my build list and work. In short, with this extensive work and preventative maintenance completed, the car needs absolutely NOTHING right now, and not for a long time, other than oil changes. I would have zero hesitation to hop in this car and drive across country tomorrow morning.
The exhaust is currently a completely custom built 3” full catless X-pipe system (no mufflers or resonators), which is by far the best you will ever hear a Turbo sound. Shifting experience is amazing with the full GT2 equivalent conversion, and single mass lightweight flywheel.
Inside the cabin, I have made a few changes to enhance the driving experience, such as: The Porsche Classic Radio, factory 997 GT3 shift knob, factory 991 GT3 Cup steering wheel (stock steering wheel & airbag also included), Recaro Pole Position ABE bucket seats, GMG seat bases, and GMG harness bar (rear seats removed, but included with the car).
There are many more subtle details and upgrades on this car that make it as special and unique as it is. It truly needs to be seen in person and experienced first hand. I wish my narrative and photos could do it justice, but it does not come close. What I can promise you is this: You will have by far the most visceral, raw, and exciting driving experience with this car, every single time you take it out. For a price similar to a stock 997 Turbo, you can have an experience that is hands down superior in every regard. It would be nearly impossible to acquire a good 997 Turbo and recreate this build for under $180K today, not to mention the many months of waiting. Mine is ready for anything right now!
