Beyond Adventure – Namibia

Look forward to an unforgettable safari adventure that you’ll experience behind the wheel of a Porsche. Explore fascinating desert landscapes and Africa’s wildlife, and immerse yourself in a true paradise.
Namibia offers everything that makes a true adventurer’s heart race! A country full of sights, world-class safaris, diverse African culture, and challenging driving experiences awaits you. Here you’ll find arid deserts, majestic sand dunes, beautiful coastal regions, and unspoiled wilderness. Close your eyes and listen to the lonely desert wind—Namibia is one of the least densely populated independent countries in the world.
There are still spots available for Beyond Adventure Namibia 2027. The trip lasts 13 days and covers about 3,000 kilometers through Namibia.
Breathtaking landscapes, safaris, vast expanses, and unspoiled nature… Welcome to Namibia!
The 13-day Beyond Adventure begins near Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, in a private game reserve—the perfect way to get in the mood for the days ahead. Upon arrival, the itinerary includes a first look at the cars, the team, and the country, as well as a wildlife experience. The next morning, we set off: We get into our cars and drive across wide, open gravel roads through Namibia. The journey first takes us toward Etosha National Park, where vast salt pans and natural springs attract an extraordinary variety of animals.

From there, the journey continues to the Skeleton Coast, where the Porsches and their drivers are put to the test in the dunes. The route then heads south into Damaraland, with its dramatic rock formations and wildlife adapted to the desert. The Atlantic Ocean brings us back to the coast for several unforgettable days, including a visit to a remote peninsula surrounded by the ocean. A night in a desert camp among the dunes offers a rare opportunity to experience the vastness of Namibia up close.
Another driving highlight takes you to Sossusvlei, where the roar of the engines echoes across the ancient sands of the Namib Desert. The extraordinary diversity and abundance of wildlife make Namibia a fascinating safari destination—one that’s experienced even more intensely from behind the wheel. Experience this and much more on a once-in-a-lifetime drive through Africa in our Porsche 911 and Cayenne models, specially equipped for safaris.
Excellence combined with passion, adventure, and precision
Beyond Adventure is all about exploring the world through exciting and unique driving adventures. The journey from A to B becomes an experience in itself, rather than just a route. We offer you the opportunity to explore destinations on your “bucket list,” all from behind the wheel of the vehicle best suited for the challenges ahead.

We want to inspire you to go where no one usually goes, and we want to exceed your expectations with our unique concepts. We’re redefining automotive adventures. Through close collaboration with our customers, you can expand your network and make new friends. When you join a Beyond Adventure, you become part of a passionate team and immediately experience what makes us unique in the way we do things.
Jan Kalmar Beyond Adventure was founded by Jan Kalmar—an adventurer, car enthusiast, and extreme driver who is constantly exploring the planet on four wheels. This lifelong passion has led to an extensive network. For more than 20 years, Jan Kalmar has been pushing the boundaries of automotive challenges, even setting world records in the process.
Individual approach
For us, the experience must be one-of-a-kind. We offer the best service wherever we go, but we never lose sight of flexibility and a personalized approach. That’s why we’ve developed a unique, classic rally-style driving concept for Beyond Adventure. It’s not about the fastest time, but about the most precise timing. That means you drive and navigate on your own. Of course, the support team is always nearby, and on the most challenging stages, the whole group stays together.
Your Team
Our experienced event team is passionate about adventure. We always strive to provide the best possible comfort and make sure you’re never on your own. Whether it’s an emergency, a mechanical failure, or a simple flat tire, there’s always a solution. Our Beyond Adventure Team is always there to offer advice and assistance.
Even though you’re driving alone, you’re never alone on your journey—not even in the most remote areas. On select adventures, a Beyond Adventure medic is on hand to provide medical assistance in the unlikely event of an emergency. The same applies to vehicle problems—a specially trained technician is on site.
All Beyond Adventures include a local tour guide. He’ll explain the area, local customs, and traditions—all to broaden your horizons. As Hans Christian Andersen used to say, “To travel is to live.” Behind the scenes, a team of travel experts is on the lookout from start to finish, tracking your route via GPS—always ready to assist you. This ensures not only your safety but also your comfort at all times.
The experience begins the moment you sign up. From then on, you can always count on our team. Our adventure begins at your arrival airport. From there, we’ll take care of everything all the way to your departure airport. Get ready to discover a world you never knew existed… an extraordinary world!
Let the adventure begin!

The Program
DAY 1
Ideally, you’ll arrive in the afternoon at Hosea Kutako International Airport, just outside the Namibian capital of Windhoek. Here, our team will welcome you and escort you to a small plane. After a 45-minute flight, we’ll arrive at Mount Etjo Elephant Lodge. There, you’ll have time to relax and slowly settle into the rhythm of Africa with a special wildlife experience.
We’ll also give you an introduction to the cars, the team, and the country so you’ll be prepared for the days ahead. We’ll also show you some practical and simple troubleshooting tips in case you encounter minor vehicle issues along the way. In the evening, you’ll enjoy your first African sunset and a welcome dinner in true Namibian style. Get ready—the driving adventure is about to begin!

If you would like to arrive early to adjust to the African time zone, please let us know in advance so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
ELEPHANT LODGE, MT ETJO, 0 km
DAY 2
In Africa, it’s customary to start the day early—so get used to it… After breakfast, we’ll set out on a self-drive safari in the game reserve so you can experience the real, wild Africa. Right from the start, you’ll get very close to most of the Big Five. After lunch, we’ll head out with an expert to get even closer to the fascinating wildlife—if you dare.
In the evening, enjoy a sundowner and dinner by the lake, with the animals right nearby.
ELEPHANT LODGE, MT ETJO, 100 km

DAY 3
Today we’ll set out early on fantastic gravel roads to get a feel for this type of driving. Once you’ve gotten used to it, the gravel gives way to a fast, smooth asphalt road heading north. After a late lunch, we’ll head back into a game reserve—though this time, not in our own cars. We’ll enjoy dinner at the waterhole, where wildlife passes by as if in a nature documentary made just for you.
ANDERSSONS AT ONGAVA, 240 km
DAY 4
We set out before sunrise to experience the breathtaking beauty of Etosha National Park. In a Porsche and accompanied by the experienced Beyond Adventure team, you’ll drive deep into the park to discover its fascinating flora and fauna. The vast salt pan is impressive, but the real attraction is the extraordinary wildlife, featuring more than 100 different species.
Our destination is Dolomite Camp on the western edge of Etosha National Park. After check-in and lunch, you can set out on another afternoon drive or relax by the pool before dinner is served amid the massive rock formations that characterize the camp.

DOLOMITE CAMP, 206 km
DAY 5
Today we’re leaving the animals behind for now and heading into the heart of Africa and into the wilderness. The villages get smaller and fewer as we go further. At the same time, the roads become more challenging. The first stretch is still a fast road, but as the day goes on, there will be moments when the car’s capabilities—and perhaps our own—will be put to the test.
As you approach your destination for the day, you might wonder why the long drive here was worth it. That question quickly fades away as soon as you jump into the pool overlooking Purros and, with a little luck, spot the region’s famous desert lions.

OKAHIRONGO ELEPHANT LODGE, 416 km
DAY 6
Today’s stage is short in kilometers but big on adventure. We’ll battle our way through the dunes and see how close everyone gets to the finish line. Not everyone will make it on their own… But our support team is nearby. Keeping your distance is important, because dust will be an issue today.
Once we’ve conquered the challenges of the dunes, the famous Skeleton Coast and the Shipwreck Lodge await us. This extraordinary lodge is nestled in the middle of the dunes, just a few kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy the afternoon in this rugged setting—perhaps with a walk to the beach or a quiet moment on the terrace.
SHIPWRECK LODGE, 40 km

DAY 7
We have a long drive ahead of us today, but first we have to find our way out of the dunes. We’ll do this as a group, since this section goes beyond the vehicles’ normal operating range. As soon as we reach firmer ground again, it’ll be classic rally style. If the tides allow, we’ll even be able to drive right on the beach.
We pass through several nature reserves before making a sharp turn eastward. The landscape and temperature change noticeably. A brief visit to the seal colony is a special wildlife experience, even if the smell isn’t exactly pleasant. Afterward, we travel through impressive landscapes and beautiful grasslands into the arid Damaraland.
Our destination lies nestled among massive rock formations. The rock pool is already waiting for us, and the evening ends with a sundowner at a spectacular viewpoint.
MOWANI MOUNTAIN CAMP, 360 km
DAY 8
Today is a time to relax after the long day yesterday—and with another long leg of the journey ahead tomorrow. Enjoy the surroundings. There are several activities to choose from, including a safari to see the desert elephants or a session on the fascinating history of this region. Or you can simply unwind at the lodge and finally get into the African rhythm.
MOWANI MOUNTAIN CAMP, 0 km

DAY 9
Today promises to be a long day in your now dusty and battered Safari Porsche. We’ll drive to the Hoanib River and try to follow it all the way to the coast. Along the way, there’s another good chance to see the region’s unique wildlife, especially the one-of-a-kind desert elephants.
Back on the coast, we’ll make a brief stop at the “Dead Sea,” where you can swim in the very salty water or simply enjoy your picnic. After that, we’ll head south with almost no stops until we reach Walvis Bay. Finally, the soft sand will once again pose a challenge.

Our destination today is Pelican Point Lodge—a place you won’t soon forget. The port city of Walvis Bay lies where the mighty Atlantic Ocean meets the coast. The protected Walvis Bay Lagoon is home to more than 88 species of birds, including countless flamingos. Add to that the howls of jackals and the sounds of over 100,000 seals.
PELICAN POINT LODGE, 600 km

DAY 10
The day could actually start off on a relaxed note. But when the first few kilometers are on soft Atlantic sand, the Porsche has to work right away. The destination is the dunes. It’s going to be a tough day, but it’ll be worth the effort. The Beyond Adventure Camp is located in the middle of nowhere—but getting there won’t be easy.
The Namib Desert is one of the oldest deserts in the world. Together, we’ll reach our overnight destination. The only question is when and how. In the evening, we’ll be treated to the stars, stories around the campfire, and the feeling of being truly isolated.
BEYOND ADVENTURE CAMP, 250 km
DAY 11
Today, the adventure continues through the breathtaking landscapes surrounding the Namib Sand Sea. We’ll drive through two canyon passes, across vast open plains, and along a fascinating mix of roads—from smooth asphalt to rough gravel to salt tracks.
Our destination is Sossusvlei, home to some of the tallest sand dunes in the world. Some of them rise more than 300 meters high. Nestled in the Namib Sand Sea, this site is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The desert lodge for tonight is one of the few located within the boundaries of Namib-Naukluft Park.

Enjoy the surroundings and the tranquility of the Namib Desert. The lodge is the perfect place to relax. If you’d like, you can even sleep right under the vast sky and its countless stars.
LITTLE KULALA, 250 km
DAY 12
Early risers who love breathtaking views can optionally take a hot-air balloon ride. You’ll float over the dunes and experience one of Africa’s most impressive sunrises. This balloon ride is considered one of the best on the continent and is capped off with a champagne breakfast.

Back at the lodge, you can enjoy the activities on offer, treat yourself to a massage, or simply relax by the pool or on your private veranda. In the afternoon, we set off for Sossusvlei National Park. Behind the wheel of your Porsche, you’ll once again tackle short but thrilling stretches of sand. At the end of the road, when even the Porsche can go no further, we’ll continue on foot to the famous “Valley of Dead Trees,” Deadvlei.
On the way back, a special sundowner awaits us in the nature reserve, followed by a “see you next time” dinner to give us a taste of the next Beyond Adventure.
LITTLE KULALA, 137 km
DAY 13
There’s no need to get an early start today. We’ll take it easy. You can either head toward Windhoek International Airport, where the adventure began, or return to Mount Etjo and, if you’d like, spend a few more days with the team.
AIRPORT, 379 km / OPTIONAL: ELEPHANT LODGE, 566 km

The cars – choose your very own adventure
The choice is yours! Which one makes you feel most comfortable? Choose the one that suits you best from our tried-and-true Beyond Adventure fleet of safari-rally-inspired Porsches. Let us know which Porsche you prefer, or team up with another team and swap vehicles if you’d like.

The sports car
The sports cars are equipped with a roll cage, sports seats, a raised suspension with rally-style shock absorbers, large off-road tires, and a full underbody guard. They feature a special spare tire mount and, of course, a cooler behind the seats.
Porsche 911 (997) KALMAR RS-7 Manual
The Porsche 911 (997) KALMAR RS-7 from the Beyond Adventure Safari Range is the sports car in the fleet for anyone who wants to experience adventure in a genuine safari 911. It comes equipped with a manual transmission and is specially prepared for this type of trip.
The Cayennes
The Cayennes offer even more ground clearance and larger, more off-road-capable tires. They also come equipped with full underbody protection, a roof rack, a cooler, and recovery gear to help you tackle even the toughest stretches of the journey. We use a modern tablet navigation system so you don’t get lost. Our satellite-based safety system provides everything you need.
Porsche Cayenne KALMAR CS Automatic
The most comfortable car in the fleet. You might not stand out as much, but it feels like riding on a magic carpet. Lots of amenities on board and, of course, reliable air conditioning.

Porsche Cayenne KALMAR CS-R Automatic
The most off-road-capable car in the fleet has undergone a significant weight reduction thanks to the installation of sports seats and the removal of most of the comfort features. The KALMAR CS-R is no ordinary SUV. Low-range gearing and differential locks mean you can drive this car almost anywhere.
Can’t decide? We’d be happy to help you choose the right car that best suits your needs.
Bring your own Porsche Safari!
The Porsche off-road scene has grown significantly in recent years. Perhaps you already have your own specially modified off-road or safari Porsche. Similarly, the enthusiasm for modified Porsche Cayennes has given rise to a community of like-minded adventurers. Everyone is welcome.
However, we’ll need a detailed description of the vehicle in advance, and we may need to inspect the car in person. After all, we know what a Porsche needs to make it to the finish line.
We treat your car as if it were “our own” and take great care in servicing and maintaining it. However, there may be additional requirements regarding replacement parts, which we will discuss with you transparently. If you’d like us to build a car for you, that’s no problem either. The standard cost of using one of our fleet vehicles will be deducted from your participation fee. However, any service and repair costs after the event that pertain to your own car remain your responsibility. Replacement parts needed during the trip will be billed separately at cost. Please contact us for more detailed information! We’ve been organizing these trips for 15 years now and are delighted that more and more people are using these vehicles off the boring paved roads.
