Porsche 959

The Porsche 959 was Porsche’s first super sports car with all-wheel drive. It was originally designed as a homologation model for rally according to Group B regulations. Porsche produced 292 units of the 959 between 1986 and 1988. The Porsche 959 had a 2.85-liter six-cylinder boxer engine with two turbochargers. For the first time in a production vehicle, the turbochargers were connected in series in so-called register charging. Its 450 hp accelerated the Porsche 959 from zero to one hundred kph in 3.7 seconds and to a top speed of up to 317 kph. This made the Porsche 959 the fastest production car in the world up to that time.
